Yes, I did.
CAAC apparently has a centralised system and if the license verification letter by your current Authority is without the wording "no accident/incident" the process comes to a sudden STOP.
No way around apparently. No flexibility from the Chinese as H.T.C. mentioned earlier.
Until somebody comes up with a solution, we are all stuck here in the sand ... lucky those who made the move last year!
Now, no longer possible heading to China from UAE at least :-(

Got to put it on your home country certificate .
If you have an FAA it looks like 12 days and$ 15,000 as you have to do a course regardless .
Anyone have any other ideas ?

According to the Chinese agency, CAAC requires the "No accident" embedded in the verification letter from the Authority (UAE GCAA).
Unable to proceed to the next stage of interview and pretty much an ... hostage here.

So new UAE (EK and FZ) joiners beware ... you can be stuck in the desert for longer than planned ...
get yourself a good copy of Adobe acrobat for Mac and “edit” the letter.

Not possible: the verification letter has to be sent directly from the GCAA to the CAAC

So, summing up. Would I be correct saying that those that want to leave the UAE to go to China are being held as a ‘prisoner’?

No, but you would be correct in saying that China is requesting an absolutely useless piece of paper and not accepting some of the most experienced and best trained wide body pilots in the world because of said piece of paper. That alone should tell you many things.
