RYR assessment in DXB

Everybody knows there was a RYR roadshow in DXB .... 5 sessions in three days. All packed with pilots. 90% EK CM1.

Now they comming in NOV and DEC for assessment. Most probably sim check in Silicon CAA.

15th Nov - 8:30am - 15.45am
16th, 17th, 18th, 19th Nov - 15:00-22:00

03rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th Dec - 15:30-22:30

Good luck.

Im surprised RYR need to do assessments considering they supplied most of the EK pilots. 🤪

I am reading it as 90% of those who attended were EK CM1 and not 90% of EK CM1s attended.

If only 10 turned up, that would mean only 9.

All packed with pilots, how many, hundreds ? How many pilots in total does EK have.

If you like the Middle East life style and the money, maybe consider applying across the water to the airline whose country you're not allowed to show sympathy for.

The pay is not as good as mentioned, as you can expect to pay for recurrent simulator deductions as well as fees for your notional company in Ireland. They will try their best to force you to set up the company in Ireland incurring a hefty 45%+ tax rate and then paying 2% to your "Accountancy" firm. You can only do 900 hours a year, as well as having a minimum of one month of unpaid leave as well, will work out far less than 175k.

Then the 5/5 roster at a floating base does not include positioning to or from the base of operation, effectively this makes it a 7/3 roster, furthermore you have to provide your own accommodation and transportation, eating into what pay you do get.

Buyer beware.

A lot of that 175k won't be taxable either due to subsistence allowances which you accumulate all the time as you hop from base to base. You'd easily take home €11-12k/month. I know as I've seen the payslips. The 'paying for your sim' works out at about 2k/year.

You should read his post again, he talks about floating base so it can't close down.

A company like that and people still sign up. We really are our own worst enemy

When people sign up for a company like that they must have their reasons.
it might seem awkward but you can't judge guys by their choice to join.

I don’t agree. If you accept being treated like that for wathever reason then we only have ourselves to blame. Anyway, if that’s what floats your boat enjoy.

We all have unique reasons for what will dictate to be the appropriate time to leave EK and what in turn will be the appropriate job to move onto.

Whilst Ryanair is by no means my own cup of tea, I will never criticise someone who wishes to move there after EK. Some of us have more pressing needs for resigning than others and after weighing up all the options, Ryanair will still be perceived to be the best option for some.

Those that do wish to move will be doing so for lifestyle. Therefore if you get based at home or close to it at least and the wife and kids will be happy, then some will be willing to tolerate a degree of 'Bravo Sierra' to facilitate a happy family.

Just like at EK... The grass is always greener somewhere over there. And, just like at EK has done with their own B-scale freight contract (15% salary reduction), it sucks that the folks at RYR are preying on people's desperations.

One could reasonably argue that nowadays you could replace RYR with EK, as it is never too far away from chasing those less fortunate who have suddenly found themselves unemployed, through no fault of their own.

Anyone know how much the training bond is, and for how long? It use to be euro 28000 out of salary. For Non rated DEC.

I was thinking of flying in to DXB from the far east for this . Reason to join RYN is simple, I don't consider where I live home. Even after many years, I'm a gweilo. Expat.

RYN offer the fixed pattern rosters. For me , the money is secondary. Or I would remain here on the big bucks (sic)

So, I'm stuck with a bad employer here in Hong Kong. No fun & in a way, demeaning . So why should I remain a foreigner , when at least I can be home, even if the company isn't an improvement on what I have now ?(which I can handle)

Bond for TR 737 RYR

They bond you for 3 years (15000€). Every year 5000€ down.
