Wow, I so surprised that the AUS destinations have been pulled. It's almost like the regulatory authority downunder had some input. Well done CASA. Next for the FAA to step up and stop this lunacy.

It amazes me that people who said they are leaving years ago are still in EK and dont have the balls to leave, do you really think it will get better? Its a pilots market out there if you cant get a better job now then just bend over and take it like a man.

I’ve just read that the unmentionable down the road from you guys is implementing a new crew management system for scheduling and planning to “save costs and increase flexibility” or something along those lines. Sounds like they’re hurting for crew as well?

So it seems the feedback to BBJ got us from 7 to 3.
From those I’ve spoken to - it now looks like the feedback will bypass the Co and go straight the National authorities.
Can’t help but wonder if they have misread the commitment.
Anyway notwithstanding the above disagreements between the two parties - if you have any safety concerns let the authorities be the arbiter.

Some pilots like it here and some pilots are stuck here. Either way the pilots that are actually leaving really aren’t going to make a difference in helping the cause.
In answer to your above question, no I do not think it’s going to get better here and when a man bends over and takes it he is not a man but a homosexual.

Brian is definitely under pressure judging by this weeks update. Numerous spelling and grammatical errors additionally one geopolitical clanger. Rangoon was was changed to Yangon in 1989, but then one might not know that if ones area of expertise had been limited to European shorthaul. Perhaps we could apply this same level of political license locally and refer to the body of water separating the UAE from Iran as the Persian Gulf

If you can get the attention of the crews into whose airspace you fly, under crewed and over tired and get them, through their union, to make a flight safety case out of it, you might start getting somewhere. Time to call on your American colleagues to step up to the plate, perhaps?

To airline management almost the world over, regulatory limits are targets.
To an office KPI driven 'efficiency management' professional, there is ZERO regard for anything other than moving roster practice ever closer to a limit.
They of course have weekends off and no sleep disturbance, even if they find themselves listless, there is another sleep opportunity just tomorrow!
Your crew hotels another cost to be minimised.
Of course in a modern Orwellian nightmare like the UAE where Regulator and Airline Management are 'incredibly similar' when those limits are met, change the limits! Gives a whole new meaning to regulatory capture.
Fortunately unlike many other 'guest workers' in the UAE pilots are less indentured.

Yeah but pilots have ready access to their passports and a staff travel system (however flawed it may be) so if they're really in dire straits an exit is possible.
Not so for the poor guy sweeping the road or building the next lot of crappy villas. He needs to go "ask" for his passport and can only dream of having the cash (or access to it) to pay off a USD5K bond.
