Because it will be a serious paycut and a huge change of lifestyle most probably… BUT some of them have done it already

We are all individuals with unique circumstances, with them sometimes significantly contrasting between other colleagues . What may be utopia for one person could be a nightmare for another.

There you go.

Translation = NO WAY I want to work 12 hrs days 5 days in a row for half the money bringing a lunch box from home and pay my own rent/mortgage/schooling.
And I can only agree with this.

We’re saying the same thing.

NO , we Don't say the same because money and lifestyle is not a must for everybody , that's why some have decided to leave EK to go back to Europe flying for a low cost or even to drive a train…
I think they are right because your health and family life is , for me , a lot more important than money and the Dubai shiny mirage...

If you are sick, or unfit to fly, pressing 2 is what should happen.

Every flight under these BS rules, no matter how one feels should involve and ASR, at Fatigue report, and a Safety report to the authority in the destination country. E V E R Y flight. Period.
I am already working on pre-written reports that I can change a few details of each time I need to use them.

I really don't mean any disrespect but some of the guys here really are out of touch with reality.
Like I said, the VAST minority of EK pilots leave to go to a European LCC, and this is a fact no matter how tired you might be. Having said that, be my guest. Unless you are close to retirement mlst people would regret it (I have seen it many times).

For me it was/is a choice of stay at EK and retire in my late 50s or go back to Europe and work until I'm at least 65. It wasn't an easy choice but I decided to stay put in the land of sand. That decision was the right one for me but everybody is different.

You can go there if you’re desperate and still be better off or one can go to a Major and enjoy a pay bump and very decent Work Rules. A new hire will start at the bottom of the list but who cares with the lifestyle improvements you will receive you’ll be far better off for you and your family.
Emirates is just not good anymore for both money and lifestyle. Why stay when it’s so much better elsewhere?

Not crewing planes

EK is trying 'im-not-shure-what' to try and crew the airplanes, but is definitely not trying to match the market. And it has not worked.
And the new 3 man crew rules, duty free rules, decrasing purchasing power, and all the other late stuff is not going to help recruitment nor retention.
And then there is all the legacy stuff we are already famous for: Pressure, training, punitive culture...

We are damn short.
I don't think anybody sees a way out of maxing Crews and calling Crews on days off, for the foreseeable future.

I am overall OK here, but starting to look for a good option out, WHEN TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS NOT EVEN PAYING ATTENTION TO THE MARKET.
I am not in the 'had enough' list, but this is not a long term option for many of us anymore. Not least because we DON'T KNOW WHAT THE NEXT LUDICROUS POLICY WILL BE.

3 Crew ULR may have just TRIGGERED THE ALARM IN MANY OF US WHO WHERE QUITE SETTLED HERE. In my opinion, this policy may easily backfire badly.

Safe flights.
And don't forget to bid 😅

😅

How could anyone be settled here with all that we know about the company and all that we have experienced in the last few years? No one and I do mean No One thinks it is going to get better here, only worse.
Each passing day the company finds some other bright idea to screw us not even imagined or contemplated. Each passing day inflation in Dubai gets worse and worse and few think that is going to ease. Each passing day we get closer to the grave and we as EK pilots approach that final resting place much more rapidly than our contemporaries. Each passing day we grow a little more distant from our families and loved ones because we are just so Damm tired and fatigued.
So pilots are settled here? WTF, Over? What is the thought process or is there one?
There is a pilot shortage but only the airlines that no one wants to work for are experiencing that shortage. We should be in the driver’s seat but instead we’re taking it in the rear end.

So where have you gone bringbackthe80s - Hainan, Hong Kong Airlines, KA, CX, Singapore Airlines, Air Japan, Norwegian, Air Pacific, Oman Air, Silkair....... did you get your DEC gig that you've been so desperately trying to find on PPrune, and so desperate to get ANYWHERE but where you are?!! It seems you are the one not in touch with reality. Don't come on here and tell EK guys how it is at EK, because you have zero experience in the region, and zero experience with EK. Apply!! Go to EK, be another sucked in by the 'it's great here, it's just a few disgruntled employees' line that EK recruiting and management throw around. Then in a couple of years post on here about how miserable you are and allow everyone to tell you how all you needed to know was right here on Pprune but you failed to heed the advice. Because you knew better.

No, they’re not. I know that at least one of the hotels that EK uses has been dumped as unsuitable for crew by one of the big four U.S. airlines. It’s noisy and dusty. Etc.

Major international airlines in the U.S. don’t fly over 12 hours block flight time with 3 crew for two reasons - either they’ve agreed with their union that it’s not safe (it’s in their Contract), or the airline has decided to do it out of expediency. The latter is a matter of safety, and concerns that with a delay they’ll end up busting the flight and/or duty limits. They’re still making billions - Despite not pushing their crews beyond the limits of safe endurance.

This is a matter of corporate safety culture. Australian, Kiwi and U.S. airlines are able to make money without disregarding well understood Human Performance norms.

All EK understands is pushing crew until they drop. And then they whip them because they are lazy.

So after today’s weekly ops email, they have now decided to trial only 3 LRVs with 3 crews.

Still three too many. If the object was to require less crew for the summer schedule will 3 flights with one F/O less really make that much difference or is it just a case of backtracking while trying to save face?
I wonder if the regulator(s) had a hand in getting it changed?
