EK Freighter contract coming to an end?
*Rumour*
Heard from an EK mate yesterday that the freighter experiment is being ended, by this I’m assuming the contract in its present form.
No idea how true or otherwise, but he’s certain it’s on the cards.
Just a heads up to all still trapped in sand town.

If true, will be interesting to see the reaction from those that went on the contract to enable them to "commute".

Rule 1: Never believe a word EK says, it all eventually turns to BS sooner or later.
Rule 2: See Rule 1.
There is about 18 years of proof to support that statement here in PPRUNE.
It helps to keep a resignation letter ready in your flight bag so that all you have to do is fill in the date, trust me it puts everything into perspective!
I hope the 777 Freighter's are going to Fed-Ex...they'll need pilots and it's a good company to work for based in a nice country!

Was on the freighter not that long ago in ams. Dispatcher said we won't be seeing much more of you shortly.
I said how do you mean. Response airport authority won't provide any more slots and something along the lines we will only have 2 flights into ams for the freighter and things moving too Germany. Who knows

go home and ask your gardener, or in your case, maybe the transport drivers..they seem to know everything that goes on around here, most likely there as well...

Since they have ALPA CBA work rules with trip rigs, duty rigs and the like, they get paid for more hours than they fly on long haul trips.
Like me, those FedEx pilots wished they worked at EK but they could never pass the checkrides or afford the cut in pay.

You're a bit deluded to think there's a single non-American pilot working at EK longing to work in your banjo-pickin' paradise. Not everyone is as thrilled to get an IRS reach-around as you apparently are.

No limit you seem to forget or you never knew that Americans have to pay taxes to the IRS no matter where they live and work. I know the US is one of the few countries in the world to do that but if your going to pay taxes anyway you might as well live and of course work in the US for a Major.
You will work less and make more money than banging away for EK. It goes without saying you will be treated better too.
I’m starting to believe that the Banjo picking pilots that don’t want to go back have some other underlying issues. Some of those issues might be perfectly legitimate like age or they don’t want to fly a narrowbody but if I get hired soon I’ll be a captain there in under 4 years. Quicker than at Emirates.
Right now there is no airline in the EU that can compete with a US Major pilot contract so I can imagine nearly every pilot in the world wanting to fly for the Majors or at least have a contract like them.

Kinda reminds me of the King Air pilot who says he wouldn't work for the airlines because he doesn't want to be anybody's copilot.

Yes there are some very respectable EU Airlines. Salami mention some and you would have to include BA and SAS in there as well but they are very few and far between. I believe when you compare those respectable EU Airlines with the US Majors the EU comes up just a little bit short. Still not a bad gig to work for but I would put my lot in with the Big 4 across the pond.
Besides the 5-6 respectable EU Airlines the rest aren’t worth two hoots. Ryan Air and Norwegian Air? Come on! They are Emirates of the North.
