A380: stop the joking, time for the wake

Now it's just getting embarrassing.

So unfortunate that everyone isn't the business genius that we can see STC is.

Plane leasing company forced to start own airline because nobody wants its A380s

Bright side

Hey now all those guys trapped at EK on the 380 will have a new airline to go to.
I’m sure there will be enough volunteers for a 10 plane fleet.

Trapped on the 380? I think not. Every guy I fly with is happy to be on that fleet. No exceptions.
There are some who are obviously disappointed by the company, but certainly not the aircraft and its destinations.
As for finding work elsewhere, those who chose to leave seem to have no trouble finding jobs instantly.
We all recognise the fact that perhaps the A380 won't be around in 20 years, but the 100 plus we have should keep us going for a decade or so. After that, we'll see.

I guess I was not clear enough. I though leaveing a 380 for another 380 job would be taken as trapped at EK.
So to clarify EK 380 pilots wil have more choices than a spot at KAL.
Not that Korea’s all that bad. Would hate to offend anyone there

I’ll be retired by then. Let those John Deere’s mow the lawns in all those exotic locations that the 380 can’t go to.......

If you want to see crew carnage just see what happens when the 787s arrive

Plenty of NTR hiring at the moment. No one is "trapped" on the A380. (Unless you are starting your upgrade now.)

Nobody is trapped on the 380. Experienced pilots are in demand and if a company wants you, they'll train you onto the new equipment.

The only ones trapped here are EK, the leasing companies and Airbus with the airframe no one else wants. Thus the hardball game between them who will have to pick up the bill.

I'm talking about Europe. 3 job offers in the last 3 months. All non-TR, Boeing or Airbus and not a self-funded TR.

Guys , guys.... grow up. Are you trying to say that experienced Emirates pilots with A330/A340/A380 can’t get a jobb?

every single pilot willing to leave the desert will get a job

in 2023 42% of all US line pilots will be in retierement, do u think that will be catched by US pilots only?
the US navy is short by 2000 pilots

US and A is seriously considering to apply for green cards for expat pilots as they cannot fill the seats anymore.
EK is in serious trouble when the market realise that these are the last pilots to recruit. and believe it or not i got from a recruiting officer from one of the majors
be patient - options are coming

There aren’t many permanent non-type rated jobs available in the world, certainly in Europe. To keep the marketable A330 rating valid under EASA regs you’re going to have to show a certain amount of training to proficiency in the sim that satisfies the new requirements. Costly (need EASA approved TRE and sim) but definitely worth it as you never know what tomorrow brings in this industry. Just like paying for income protection insurance.
