What a brilliant way to prop up the DXB property market. Shift all the employees of one of the largest employers in the city into substandard accommodation so they are forced to purchase.....and the money goes round and round and round but not into your pocket anymore. Sad days indeed.

And who is to say that the 'sweet deal' you get for the first year will stick around for long. It doesn't take much of an increase before you could be paying more than the inflation-busting allowance!

Those of you thinking that DSO knew nothing about this are kidding yourselves.
sheikh Ahmed is boss of both DSO and EK. You would have to be a pretty brave middle manager to pull this off without his knowledge.
Now lets see who wins the most and who loses the least.
DSO loses. However not in the long run. First they moved Cedre villas. I hear that is almost full again in 10 months or so. They are now getting much more per villa than before. Now they will do half of Semmer (about as many as Cedre.) don’t want to saturate the market too much, wait until that starts filling then do the other half. Lets see if the other half get their notice in about 6 to 12 months time.
Emirates wins by having employees move to the much cheaper MS.
They will accept a few will opt out but most wont.
Its all business. And hey, thanks for making DSO such a nice place to live. Its easier to rent now.

Speak to your maintenance guys and offer them 500 dhs to paint the entire house with a cheap paint they can source from the company’s supplier. Easy, cheap and doesn’t matter if it’s a crap paint job as that’s the way you receive it anyway and you’re complying with the contract (remember YOU have to stick to YOUR side of the contract ;-) )
And 500 will be a considerable increase over what the company deigns to pay them. Official deduction was 1000.
Last time we got our place painted I managed to pry the rate out of our guy. He got 50dhs for a full days work. Got his number and told him we'd call direct next time we needed painting. He brought the paint and did the whole flat for 400
