EK : Does anyone know what the current EPT tablet policy is?

In true EK fashion the company has sent out serveral different updates on the ept and now most people are confused.

Can some one summarize the current policy?

Bring it to work fully charged and updated but don't use it (for primary navigation at least). Performance calculations must be cross checked with a CF19.

I think the policy is to keep the EPT updated and charged, to keep the extra power pack updated and charged, to carry a large world adapter kit updated and charged, to have your own 1000 gb internet connection to keep all of the above updated and charged (the lights in my house dim under the power load and my DEWA goes way up during updates), to keep your many complaints about the EPT with IT updated and charged. From what I heard, the Stealey Wheelie, being poorly made (think name plate, wings etc.), are just falling apart under the strain of all the heavy 1990's technology so they had to stop replacing bags because THAT is the reason for the loss of profit this year.

Its totally clear now.

On the up side, you can now get your own diesel powered locomotive flight bag to carry all of the above, as long as its black of course. If only there was a Cupertino, California based company that made a better faster and more reliable tablet...sigh.

Can't be bothered. It's in my closet. Doesn't work, can't connect anymore, can't update anymore, and will be damned before dealing with IT or drive into EGHQ on a day off to either get a replacement or get it fixed. When all aircraft have a mount and it starts to become mandatory, I'll trade it in, like so many have done.

No need to come in on a day off. They will replace it for you in 5 minutes in the IT support room in departures.

COITuS

Crew Operations IT universal Support right after customs to the right.

Open 24 hours, no waiting, they'll service it while you wait.

Take no heed of the puns, this stuff writes itself.

but that then eats into my Costa time, which may or may not be needed depending on the line.

My is charged and usually updated. Usually, because if an update comes out while on a layover, there is no way our crappy free internet is going to update before I leave.
I don't use it. Won't until it is mandatory.

Mine is permanently flat, out of date and resides in my suit case. At least that's where I last saw it.

After having a coffee with a friend who had the senior FOI on board recently, it turns out even the FOI is not very impressed at the contraption that we use. He mentioned that he is on his third device!

Not really, I am still confused too. Mine works fine, battery could be better but the power brick solves that problem. I'd prefer an iPad, despite not being into Apple products at all. I believe all the problems with the EPT are because of IT messing with them to such an extent and all of the extra software which was poorly written. It explains why some folk are on their 3rd or 4th EPT but same old issues.....
