EK407 2 missed approaches and diversion, why?

Curious to know if anyone can elaborate why Emirates A380 flight EK407 AKL-MEL had 2 missed approaches and then diverted to SYD.
There was a wind change but other flights, including Singapore A380 managed to deal with the situation and land at intended destination (MEL!)
Any more details?

Apparently four go arounds the other morning in Dubai with 10kt shear at 1,000ft. WTF have we breed?

That would be considered calm in many places I used to fly. A 4000m runway in front of you and you go around because the ASI showed a 10 knot gust? FFS.

I recall one of our 380s did a go-around in Paris because the aircraft floated a little in 50knot headwinds....ground speed of a Cessna!

Everyone seems to be paranoid, where is the airmanship gone?
I call it a messed up company culture.

Going by one response here it is no longer just a magenta line, but also magic voices these days. It just keeps getting better.

I arrived during the said "wind-shear reported" period, admittedly in a John-Deere rather than a retrdd bus, and all I noticed was the FO moving the thrust levers a bit more than usual...10kts...pfffft, how the hell will that thing ever land in DUB in a moderate southwesterly?

If the RWY gets switched to 16/34 (basically happens when s**t hits the fan in DUB) ... it simply won't.

Excellent Monarch Man, it only took 13 posts to make it Boeing vs Bus with the vastly superior JD winning the keep the pilot in the loop stakes. We know how well that worked last year

Yep. Reminds me of when my kids were 5 and 7, they used to fight about who was better, Ford or GM.

Some people just never grow up!

Oh you poor delicate petals...it was a genuine question given the exemplary display by two of your colleague training wallahs into MAN last year when it was a bit drafty and damp.
If you are upset at my comments between the two types then you have missed the point, moreover I ALSO used the disparaging tractor descriptor regarding my own mount...but why let that get in the way of sensitive egos eh?
So the question once more, given the continued erosion of what appear to be basic airmanship type skills/traits (521 anyone?) along with the never ending complexity and dumbass tomfoolery that those Toulouse engineers engage in....how will it cope into somewhere like DUB if as alleged a 10kt windshift triggered a go around?

Loss of confidence in Emirates

We don't use Emirates if have a choice. The dilution of cockpit experience, lack of a credible safety culture, crew fatigue issues, low morale and industry knowledge decided it for me.
It's a shame as they have a good 'product' at a fair price and serve the destinations I need but sometimes you have to say 'enough is enough'.

It'll be just fine... Especially if one flies a Flap 3 approach!

Now, I'd better go and file an ASR for my last TCAS TA as that seems to be all the rage

You call us "delicate petals" when you clearly have some subliminal attraction to the phallus like protuberances of the 777 cockpit?

"admittedly in a John-Deere rather than a retrdd bus"

Clearly, what point did we miss here?

MM at what point did I or indeed Outlaw appear upset. I was just bemused by your desire to play the boring Boeing v Airbus tune, it never grows old.

All of it, given the type of flying machine I was in is, in my small mind, utterly irrelevant to the point I made, it is your goodself plus one other on here that have interpreted what I said as a comparison between the two types. If I may be so bold as to suggest that irony and sarcasm are neither comparative nor the exclusive domain of those pious superior types who look down on their fellow colleagues on the basis of what they strap into. Alas it would seem that given the limitations of the written word and the clear sensitivity to anything that could be misconstrued in a parallel universe to suggest a comparison...you fellows felt in necessary to miss my point.....I was merely responding in kind to your sensitivity, forgive me, for I have sinned, said this former A300/320/321/330 pilot...who actually quite enjoyed the machines..when they worked.
