Other operational events:

EK 228 SEA-DXB EWA/B777 - delayed due to a running hydraulic leak from a tail fin area. Contracted Engineer did a good job accessing the area, determining the leak and organizing the spare part from Delta Airlines. Once installed and serviceable at 2030z (03:30 delayed), it turned out that Delta suddenly realized that this part was meant for EK and revoked the spare part due to missing agreements. As such and despite long debates we had to return the part.
Luckily an alternative was located with Alaskan Airlines. Spare could be installed and departed with a 06:30 delay.

Gents,

Pray tell, what are the flight duty limits and rest rules like at Emirates? The flight time is 14:30, plus a delay of 6:30. Assuming a 1:00 brief, and a crew of 4, they'd have been on duty for 22:00 on arrival. I don't imagine EK has reserve crews in Seattle. How was this crew able to do this flight?

I guess it depends on the inbound/outbound timings and when the fault was found...I guess one possibility would be if the fault was known inbound the crew call at the hotel might have been delayed.....other than that no idea...

ULR duty time with 4 crew allows for a duty period of 22 hours, so they could have done it without any hotel rest or delayed duty time.

EK probably spent the six hours negotiating the price from $US300 to $US275.
Hilarious, because it rings so true!

Check Airman, EK have 2 flights a day to SEA, with a 48hr layover so there would be plenty of pilots hanging around if a crew change was needed.

Kipper, Is Emirates crew not allowed to have a drink when on layover? Are they on permanent standby?
