EK EBT-OPINIONS?

Is it just me or has the EPT been less than reliable?

I am on the 3rd replacement and now and this one won't open docunet (java error), other times it wouldn't connect to any open wifi even the one at work. IT's response? Trade it in and get another one which of course you have to spend time updating etc.

Besides its detracting points that it is heavy, unreliable, uses a "buggy" operating system, takes ages to charge etc. I just don't see the value in having to haul 2 devices around when my personal device does everything well (except the LIDO app of course).

Has anyone rejected the EPT and given it back to the company for them to keep? Personally I could do without it and find that the only thing its actually good at is keeping dust off a 10" X 7" patch on my shelf at home. It could also be used as a nice pool decoration.

No up/download via USB connection
No personal apps/programs loadable
No screenshot in EK mode
No split-screen in EK mode
Try using the Himalaya DARD mode ....
Horribly sluggish touchscreen
WiFi connection reminding the early nineties
CISCO sound concert, connected/disconnected/reconnected, with tons of messages but mainly no connection in due time
Office apps only usable online
Not allowed to install personal Office (or similar)

Would you buy such a pos?
Would you dare offer such a pos in your shop?

It's unbearable cr@p

Yeah gents (mates), its not a thread about spelling and grammar vs. a discussion about the tablet given the pilots.

Shall we move along?

Not overly impressed. Pathetic touch screen, even after removing the Kevlar screen protector.

On an average flight have to enter a password umteen times to get the pos to wakeup.

Heavy, unresponsive, the list goes on.

First time used in the flight deck the EPT froze at a crucial stage of flight. I definitively don't trust this device as a reliable paper alternative.

Not sure why we received the device with so many flaws etc. Sort the problems and then distribute it - oh no, we are still in the developing phase. Strange that the cadets have not been issued.....

Ok outlaw (mate) but EBT is something quite different from EPT. Just pointing this out for your benefit mate.....
Plus EBT was launched recently so could quite easily have been construed as that.

We all know the tablet is cr*p, I presume you've filled out the feedback and sent it back to the EPT team?

Off for a Bebsi.

Twin Jock,

Very valid points.

I have spent way too much time with IT down route at my expense with the only outcome being to trade the unit it for another, not a viable response when one is on day 1 of a 9 day trip.

I not an apple muncher but I've had my iPad 2 for 6 years plus without as much as a re-boot due failure let alone a factory reset.

I am pretty suspicious about why they chose a windows platform vs Mac but its simply not worth it the hassles.

Yes EdB...on 4 occasions so far and with no feedback I may add. But then again who is going to take responsibility for such a disaster?

EBT EPT

My tablet took a beating from the tough book on landing. It is heavy and seems to be unresponsive, many times. Mine is really unresponsive now!

Speaking of EBT, anyone else gotten an aerodynamics lesson recently?

I'm on my third incarnation!! Agree with all points above. Totally unfit for use. Not dependable and how it will be approved is anyones guess but we know it will be of course. My current tablet is not a book end as yet again it refuses to see any internet even though it is connected to wifi. Cant be faffed dealing with the issue again. Back to the toughbook for me.

OK I will bite as I am curious, why would you spend too much at YOUR expense downroute to try and sort the tablet out?

We all agree on one thing though its a piece of junk alright....!

The best hardware will not work if the software has some issues.....
I agree that a windows platform wouldn't be my first choice, but I doubt that's the solution.

Looks pretty, though. Otherwise a piece of garbage. I would have better luck making a Commodore 64 work. But our IT department might be up to snuff with a 64.

And BTW, how is one to send feedback on the tablet if impossible to get online? I've given up. When they say we have to use it, then I'll spend time trying to get it to work. Why waste the time now? FUBAR and SNAFU.

I used it for a few days to learn how to operate/navigate around it.

Now it sits at home, and I wont use it again until I'm told that I have to.
It's completely unreliable.

Battery life is pathetic, It's slow and unresponsive, the map is useless when you zoom in, so on and so on.........

I flew with a guy from FlyDubai who told me they used iPads and they were just great with no issues.

Why do these idiots have to try and reinvent he wheel with everything they do, they just screw it up!!!

Found a great way to mount it though. Take the plastic strip off the gash bag and velcro it to the back with a bit sticking out, slide it over the chart holder and clamp the bit sticking out, nice and secure, I leave it there all the time. works a treat.

I had this issue a couple of times as well. I found out that if you restart, not shutdown and restart but just use the restart button it sorts it self out. Both time it then connected to the internet with no problem. Very frustrating initially.

A hard reset will sort it, hold the pwr button down until the screen goes black then let it reboot. When it starts drop it from a great height...
