EK Roster problem

My January A380 Command roster is at 104 hours over 21 days. I am being told that due to "increased demand" (of what??) that we can now be asked to fly up to 112 hours during 3 months of the year, as long as there's a one month break between rosters of over 100 hours.

When did this policy change, and was anyone notified of it? I certainly was not.

My January A380 Command roster. Wow, I bet you're a pleasure to fly with skipper.

Some are a pleasure to fly with indeed. I learn interesting facts like deicing won't be required in dxb during the departure brief. Other pleasures include an arrival brief into cdg consisting of a separate approach to all four possible runways and bonus information like full lost comms procedures "just in case". 21 minutes of a c-two-f gem. 😴

You can always call in fatigued, but in your case (commander), you should call in "super FATiqued".

Did miss something? I can be slow off the mark but isn't he asking a reasonable question about a sh1tty roster. I'm not doing a 110 hr rosters! That's madness.

Did someone mention the BK? No, not Burger King for terrain avoidance.

What a warm welcome ... not!

Sorry chaps, I simply wanted to know if anyone knew when this policy came to be. It seems it's only the commanders of the A380 so far. B777 commanders and all first officers don't seem to have the same increased monthly hour ability.

104 not just in a month but in 21 days. Absurd. I had heard the GCAA has approved up to 112 hrs.So, short of pilots, many quitting without jobs to go to due to sheer exhaustion, recruitment team let go, what do you do , flog the remaining minions harder and offer new hires more cash (not that they are coming). So what happens? More leave, hence compounding the issue.
Cancel flights to ease rosters; increase pilot compensation to be in line with work done- get some people to actually start wanting to work here again. Seems obvious but no this will just be an arrogant drive to the bottom until this airline is obliterated. Or another crash, or both.

Have to laugh at all those that wish the demise of EK. Some are EK pilots that may have been delayed for LHS or failed. They won't be laughing if 4000 + pilots get dumped on the market. Or those that have property they can get rid of.

Amen to that Fatbus.......those of us who have been around long enough have witnessed airlines rise and fall, and friends or self made redundant...

Never a pleasant time. We beat this to death, however, only firm management can guide this

We only do our part in keeping our A or B safely in the sky

I know three new starts in the last four months just from my part of the world.

So no, they are still coming.

Put it another way, they aren't coming in anywhere near the numbers that are needed. There will always be some people who just need to pay the bills. Or suffer from big shiny jet syndrome.
