EK: The Best Airline in the World

Emirates named World’s Best Airline at Skytrax World Airline Awards 2016 (Condensed version).

DUBAI, U.A.E.,12 July 2016:

Based on the results of the largest airline passenger satisfaction survey in the industry, the World’s Best Airline Awards are considered a global benchmark of airline excellence.

This year’s Skytrax awards were based on 19.2 million completed surveys… 280 airlines… customers from more than 104 countries. The survey measures 41 key performance indicators of front-line products and services (?) in the airline industry.

This is the fourth time Emirates has won in 15 years.

Comments from management include: "We listen carefully to our customers, and then relentlessly challenge ourselves to deliver and exceed expectations."

Superfluous background information includes: Emirates is the world’s largest international airline… extensive network… 154 destinations… 81 countries… six continents… big hub… young fleet… etc.

Recent achievements: the unveiling of a new 777 J Class seat… 39 lounges… new children’s toys and activity kits… investing over US$140 million in its wine programme for all cabin classes in 2015 alone.

(What? $140,000,000 USD on it's WINE PROGRAMME in 2015… ALONE? )

Mention of unprecedented Wi-Fi connectivity…

Mention of industry "bests": 2,689 channels, 90 children's channels, live coverage of really important stuff.

Recent improvements since winning last year include:
35% more TV channels
20% more TV Box Sets
35% more audio channels
37 languages
Entertainment for the blind and deaf
Live TV across the fleet covering this year’s doomed Rio Olympics.

End of chest beating.

That is why AS had to try and flog the empty boxes in the guise of "bespoke furniture" Obviously trying to ingratiate himself to the masters before retirement and get himself on the front page of SAFAR for having saved the company $$$$$$ from the wine programme.

Mind you a full profile picture of him wouldn't have taken up much column space 😀

... and the most tired Pilots in the world!
Good luck, its a good start.
If passengers knew what is going on here their wote would be the opposite.
You can buy any ranking!

Frankly speaking, I didn't expect that outcome. The EK products are to inconsistent and on certain aircraft types "just average". But this vote is a nice marketing gimmick, nothing else. For the crew nothing will change, it could go only worse....

You've got to remember who Emirates are up against. Their product in the cabin is still one of the best and the IFE most certainly is.

With regards to the product consistency, Emirates is most certainly the leader here when you look at the huge fleet differences of almost every other rival. Emirates is providing it's best cabin in all A380s and most 777s. Only a very small number of the fleet has an inferior cabin which is reducing all the time and only being used on short/unpopular routes.

A lot of complaints I have been hearing about Emirates' service going downhill have been in the premium cabins. Purely based on numbers alone, most skytrax voters will be economy pax.

This post is in no way referring to the company from anemployee's point of view. That is an entirely different subject.

Unfortunatelly Skytrax does not rate employment treatment, this list would look very much different.

It makes interesting reading on the Skytrax homepage, STC comments versus every other CEO, including Al Baker who pays tribute to the success of their companies, by praising their staff's effort!

Shows how much we are valued at EK!!! Eh habibis!

EK and Skytrax is the business equivalent of a massage in a Bangkok parlour.

Money exchanged, outcome assured.

As previously posted, the shiny exterior masks the rotting flesh inside.

For now.

No it doesn't have best product or consistency. Its Y is cramped, J is probably two decade old non-flat. Future J is 2-3-2.

Food options are dwindling. They used to have young energetic FAs on their toes out of fear, they stopped caring long back.

All it has is latest IFE content on big screens.

Can you name an airline with better product consistency? ie. Their best cabin product in the vast majority of their fleet?

Totally agree BIGDAVIET

It's about passenger feedback...... it's not an award for "Happiest Airline Employees"

It actually is a damn good product, take a trip on a Nth American Airline, Asia Region Airline and tell me EK sux, simply it doesn't.

The operational side of things isn't so fantastic but will it change to appease unhappy crew?? Probably not.

And how many planes have showers? 80 doesn't constitute majority of 240.
How many planes have flat beds in business?

If a two aircraft type airline cannot main consistency how will an airline with lot more aircraft types?

Caynine
Happy FC - Safe airline
Happy CC - Improves cabin service quality

Rest of the hard/soft products are provided by some third party vendor every airline can buy. Some may not get family benefits.

Why go through the hassle of keeping employees and customers happy when we can buy ratings.

Emirates Wins at the Airline Strategy Awards

David Kaminski-Morrow, FlightGlobal’s Air Transport Editor said: “Through a network and fleet strategy which, at times, has defied convention, Emirates has positioned itself as a ubiquitous operation, akin to a modern day Pan Am...
