New EK Staff Travel Christmas Cheer

Management are on a negative roll right now!!

Special tickets, yes now you can only get 10 a year(down from 15), because surprise, surprise some numptys have been abusing the system.

Now why don't the company deal with the individuals concerned and not carpet bomb the rest of us hard working staff, with more negativity

One more reason not to stay.

Time to write in Habibis, if you don't they think all is fine.

I don't think the nomination of friends applies to pilots? Aren't we grade 9/10? Or FD06/07? Only applies 1-8 and FD01-03.

The reduction to 10 is poor but it looks like they now roll over?

Well crew were abusing it and selling them and making profit so it was bound to happen. Unfortunately this affects all of us but what to do.

Ground staff in Beijing told me once not too long ago 10 different people arrived with the same name in different days to travel with a special ticket..

This is again a slap in the face for the long timers here..

I have quite a big extended family. Before they all were eligible for 'wider eligibility' tickets, which worked nice. Then the special tickets meant I needed to keep track of who came, since the limit is 15 per year, which is not an awful lot if you have family coming to visit quite often.
Now restricted to 10 tickets per year means that I have to choose who of my family can come and visit me?? And all that because some people are misusing the system, a system that was designed to be misused...

No, again a big fail from staff travel, and again worsening our conditions, especially for people with families.

Not only can't we get 42 days of leave as per the contract, let alone getting some leave while the kids are not in school. So going back home to visit the family is getting harder every year. Now on top of that they also make it harder for the family to visit us during the year... And that for an Arab company that always claimed to be family friendly??

Very disappointed!

Well, that's 350 friends going on the excel spreadsheet, plus all family members currently breathing, plus the wife's stuff too. A sheet with 700-800 names ought to do it. It could be any of them!! 😏

Not quite correct, we are all limited to 10 tickets but the lower grades must list the names of who they want on them for the year!

Do all eligible colleagues get 10 tickets per year?
Yes – the new limit on Special tickets applies to all eligible colleagues

Payload restricted ( when not)

Sent Wife home on first SRC on ek203. 90 empty seats across 3 classes. Thought it was a no brainer. But wait, at checkin told to wait until etd-1hr. When asked why; "payload". She called me, checked OFP; MZFW-10T, MTOW-25T, MLW-22T. Only 2 stby pax, she was #1. Am I missing something, where is the problem, or are they just being difficult?

Welcome to Emirates, the only company I have ever witnessed in my career where the ground staff in Dubai actively try to keep staff OFF of a flight...everywhere else, colleagues bend over backwards to try to accommodate one another. Dubai ground staff?

Deplorable.

It would be amusing if it wasn't so pathetic.

years ago a ground staff got fired because he printed the boarding pass, 2 hrs before departure but gave it to the captain 45 min before the flight, the bag didn't make it and EK had to pay to deliver it, after reporting that EK looked into it and saw that he always did that to staff

I've always found that the Staff Travel check in have been exceptionally helpful... Even here in Dubai.

Maybe they take an exception to miserable Bast Ards NLH?

EK seems to recognize that pilots and their generally verified long term background in professional aviation is worth more than say a cabin crew who has just appeared in the aviation industry 8 months ago. Hence why we do not need to nominate people. Clearly showing more trust towards us (a tiny bit I agree ).

But at the same time, that same "8 month old" cabin crew is fully trusted to look over the same ( more trusted )pilots during the "pee" break.
I would have thought that staff travel abuse not to be as critical as having someone we trust to look over our shoulders ? Or is money more mportant than "show" ?.....
