what's happening Indian Atc??

This has happened twice now in two months,
Both times travelling north, north west,
While transiting via Colombo FIR, we were requested to climb to flight level 360... It wasn't the ideal time but as you know, sometimes it won't be offered again, so we grabbed the opportunity,
Approx 20 min later, in the chennai FIR we were instructed to descent back to fl level 340
It's happened twice now!!!
No coordination...
Your damned if you climb and damned if you don't!!!
We queried the poor coordination, but ofcourse no response except descent to level 340
It's lucky these days we don't fly into Dxb with min fuel
Any similar experiences

Relax Francis, happens all the time. Take a few extra tons, put ATC as the reason, hit Bubin with extra hold fuel, land with extra gas in the tanks, go home and sleep easy. Done it for years, never heard a peep.

adel, were you the one, who when told to fly 210, said "that is below our min clean speed" and then when the controller asked "what is your min clean speed" the reply was "211".

Thumbs down

You don't burn extra??? Odd. Why do they put those adjustment figures on the OFP then?

Anyone who expects anything but sheer incompetence and pushy ignorance from indian ATC is kidding himself.

Worst part of that statement, is that you can't make this stuff up

"Pushy ignorance"

Thanks! That's the phrase I've been looking for.

The figures are for -4000 feet. So +/- 2000 feet your contingency should generally take care of it. Small change.

......+/- 2000ft for 20 mn according to initial post guys...
peanuts versus +/-4000ft correction valid for entire flight!

Those poor guys/gals are working airspace from the transition level to probably the fl40s. And they have time to answer your questions about coordination? Just either accept the clearance or don't. Simple really.

Did you, by any chance, find some magnetised cutlery on your crew meal tray a few months ago?

...or was it indeed you who put the "EICAS Speedbrake Extended came on in descent" ASR?

Jeez, I file an ASR if it doesn't come on in descent...I figure it can't be working.

Perhaps he was the one who filed an ASR for "overfueled by 600 kilos"...

What can I say folks, querying the efficiency of Indian atc, has now pidgin holed me as an ASR
time waster...
I have never filed any of those frivolous ASR described above.
I was merely making an observation and hoping to get other views...i still disagree that it's normal or acceptable to be flying like a yoyo,

Hardly a yoyo

Ever heard of crossing traffic?
Mix of aircraft?
Significant economic benefit?

Etc, etc.

Adel...I have news for you, and this may come as a shock.

You are not the only aircraft in the sky.
