EK First Officer Apartments

Just wondering if anyone has knowledge of what apartment buildings are available for new joiners at present? And if so, what are the relative merits?

I understand that you don't have a lot of say in terms of where you get put, but that you can at least register your preference.

I'm a single guy moving to Dubai. My preference would be for an apartment building that has a balcony. If it's a trade off between location and quality of the apartment (age, size, decor etc.) I would choose quality over location. Would anyone be kind enough to recommend an available apartment building for EK FOs to me?

Thank you.

Definitely TECOM. Lived there for a year and then opted out of company accommodation to live in The Greens right next door to Tecom. In my opinion, best location in Dubai.

Interestingly, a while back poposicilano said this-

And you are wrong assuming anyone here is willing to join that circus.
Followed by a rant regarding the treatment of workers in the UAE

NOW it seems HE joined EK- and didn't leave out of some sense of moral outrage, but because they didn't treat HIM well enough.

In other words, if he'd gotten the apartment he'd wanted, the plight of low paid workers wouldn't have been so important to him.......

Gripes about the treatment of workers in the ME and elsewhere are legitimate. Things have improved to a certain extent BECAUSE of the exposure on the international stage, and long may that continue.

Where Popo is a hypocrite is that he has poured scorn on others for working in the UAE while the workers are poorly treated- then the above reveals the reason HE left is because the apartment he was given (which any worker would kill for) wasn't up to his standards.

Pop-

Thus, had EK panned out for YOU as you thought it might, you would have stayed.

This makes all your other protestations nothing more than rationalisations.

Also just got to love it when you say this-

A perfect place I admit for low quality individuals, for racist white britofascist like you matey
After having written this-

After six months in temporary accommodation in the middle of a high density curry intensive neighborhood
So, of course, you aren't prejudiced against "Them"- just so long as you don't have one as a neighbour.

So, a racist as well as a hypocrite....

Puposiciliano, have to agree with Wiz. You're sounding more and more like a hypocrite so stop posting before you fall into that hole you're digging.
PS I got a great laugh out of your term britofacist, coming from an Italian...thats funny right there!

At a guess I'd say ELP level 4. BTW I'm neither Brit or facist.

Does the fact that I don't like Indian food makes me a racist?
Your description of where you lived most definatley does.

and we may say that your are for sure a Britons of origin ..right?
Something like 60% of Australians are the result of post WW2 migration from all over the world.

There are Aussies in EK with cultural backgrounds as diverse as Dutch, African, Italian, and from different parts of Asia.

We never had a facist regime allied to the Nazis....

Back to the original topic....

So there seems to be some consensus here that TECOM is one of the best areas?
Are they still putting married couples w/out kids in the cabin crew buildings?
Is the whole process the lottery that it seems to be?

EK First Officer Apartments

Wow this thread got off topic fast.
I've heard Tecom is a good location but how old are the apartments?
If Tecom wasn't available what would everyone recommend as second best?

Millennium Tower (MIT), you can't open the windows and it has a fungus problem, and I'm not just referring to the steroid boys flexing their muscles in the gym. I mean a real fungus problem, just check in the stairwells when you're there

However, if you're single, all this could be worthwhile for the eye candy at the pool
