EK How many are really leaving?
But there is a definite change this time... even amongst the galley chatter, it's not just "oh I'm going to leave sometime this year" it's "xyz are hiring/ I've sent out my resumes/I resigned yesterday/got an interview next month". Now it seems to be less galley FM and more ACTION....
The masses are upset and it's showing in the fact that people are not scared to call sick for what we previously would have pushed on through for the sake of the operation....
Geordie, well, what would either of us know about it? We only work at the coal face, after all. It's a proven fact it costs less to retain than retrain but they have not exactly shown a flair for that...
Airline down the road are putting up new joiners in luxury hotels and flying them over J class... apparently someone there has started the change...

Like everything else in this world, there are does who do and then the rest are the ones who talk about doing...
But it's not always possible to go back to what was left behind. Although some have gone back to Ryanair. People thinking of joining EK should think about that.

But it is true the cabin crew are walking the talk, heard the resignations are so many, if you want to resign now the management insists on you waiting for ninety days, otherwise you walk away without whatever it is they owe you.
Not true about the 90 days for Cabin crew leaving. Have a friend leaving soon after the 30 day notice period. She will be receiving all the crumbs they owe her.

Don, Don, Don... cmon! Of course they'll tell them what they want to hear. I know of crew who resigned 6-9 months who who are yet to receive their EOSB. Of course the banks in their home countries are being blamed...

I never mentioned if money was paid or not. I said that the management insisting on 90 days notice, as mentioned, is crap. Its not happening. You still only need to give 30 days notice as crew.

And I was referring to "She will be receiving all the crumbs owed to her" that is all
Unfortunately it is very hard to get said crumbs after leaving the UAE if they are NOT given... which seems to happen in some cases....

I feel sorry for our Cabin crew
I do 95 every month and i feel like death warmed up and they do even up to 120 hrs and they have to keep smiling ,
And as i say again 95 hrs here is all at night and you are just from one time zone to another !
I am tired and on the edge , but the crew are just over worked !
Oh yes TC said to a mate of his in the Galley in front of my FO(he was waiting around the corner , they did not see him) , "the crew are like Lemons , you squeeze them dry and toss them aside" ! I take thats the same for the Pilots to be frank and honest

My wife was made to resign as cabin crew after she became pregnant.
They were very quick to start (wrongly) deducting little bits here and there from what was going to be her final gratuity.

Until we pointed out to them that she was going to be staying in Dubai on my visa and that because just a month before she fell pregnant she had been given her housing allowance, we technically owed Emirates money.
We then suggested to them that until they worked out the correct gratuity owed, we would be in no rush to pay them back the housing allowance. It helped that one of the HR minions at EGHQ had accidentally issued a 'no money owed' letter meaning that we were able to get my wife a visa through me before they realised that we actually owed them money.
Funny old thing, everything got sorted extremely quickly after that.
A very small victory, granted. But satisfying nonetheless.

As an aside, maternity leave is available to married cabin crew.... after completing the first 3 year contract. However I believe that it is unpaid and at the discretion of the company.
Since all CC are hired on a single basis contract, and it is illegal to be pregnant and unmarried in the UAE, this should not come as a surprise to any CC who joined.

Yup, that pretty much covered it with my wife. She was just inside the 3 year mark so told to resign.
The interesting thing about it is that it is at odds (as we understood it, and as it was explained to us by a sympathetic HR person) with national law which apparently says that a company must provide maternity to any woman who has worked a minimum of 1 year.
But the rules here are 'flexible' at times.......
