Ex-pat life insurance.
Not sure where to post this query so I'll try here. I am a brit now working outside the EU. I would like to take out life cover but my new company does not have any arrangements for this. Does anyone here know any companies or brokers who can help? Thanks

I use Friends Provident.
Based in Dubai but purchased via a broker in the UK... Why? Because you are then covered under regulations of the UK finanical services authority..
You might pay a little bit more but you are protected from mis-selling.
Friends provident covers everything you need for life and critical illness. Not as comprehensive as a loss of licence plan but most airlines cover this in part already (EK do).
Also much better than a LIPS scheme because you are guaranteed a payout and not relying on a full pot (as in the LIPS scheme). The LIPS scheme is also open to abuse from pilots who just want an early retirement and 'fake' or at least exacerbate their claims.
My two penneth.

Life insurance
Hello, try Baymac (www.baymac.net). They represent Clements Worldwide. I took out a life insurance for USD 500K two month ago w/o medical check up. It is underwritten by Lloyds of London and they also issue the insurance certificate. Hope it helps!

Good Cat - I think he's talking about life insurance not loss of license. RTFQ?
I mentioned the LIPS Loss of Licence cover because many colleagues talk about getting this instead of adequate life / illness cover.... so I mentioned it's pitfalls as per my humble opinion.

Check if your life insurance policy gives war zone cover....are you operating or based in a war zone?Good idea to also insure the life of your wife ......child care etc is expensive and also the beautiful Swedish blonde replacement.Also consider if it is advantages to have these policies written in trust...there is normally no charge for this and it can be very cost effective.

As we have just had the Baymac brochure stuffed into our drop boxes (what's left of them), anyone care to offer an opinion if this is anything beyond posh travel insurance? The premiums appear to be almost too good to be true.

I have had the he alt insurance offer by Baymac for 8 months now and i love it. it works anywhere in the world including the old USA. My 18 month old girl had used it a couple of times in the US, and It works great. If could opt out of EK family insurance, I would.

If you mean Life Assurance, for a lump sum pay out in the event of death or disablement, then I have a policy with Liverpool Victoria (I think it's now called LV+ or something odd) which covers me up age 65, at which point they assume I'm worthless, for about £160/quarter, and they know I'm not UK based.
