EK Staff Travel for Maids

Hey guys...

Does anyone know if we can get CAT C FIRM Business Class ticket for our maids?

We plan to send her home for xmas and were wondering if she has to go via "Firm" Economy or can we get her a "Firm" Business Class ticket?

The EK policy seems to indicate only economy but I've heard otherwise. Have tried staff travel but as usual, no answer.

Any info would be appreciated.

Let me know when you're looking for a replacement housemaid, I'm definately interested in the J class travel part! Would be a step up for me!

If she travels WITH you she is entitled to business. If she travels solo she is only entitled to economy. The system won't let you book otherwise.

Just out of interest, the "alleged airline" from the emirate to your south allows buddy passes to anybody designated by the employee. The "alleged airline" allows any class of travel that you are allowed to be given to whoever you have on your list, up to ten tickets per year. Actually not too bad, the ex wife, maid, gf and wife all get the same privileges.

Hopefully the ex-wife, girlfriend and wife aren't all on the same flight.

Hmm, wonder if NG's wife & gf were both hosties by any chance? Once witnessed a dust-up when two crew both pulled out pics of their 'honey' only to realise it was the same guy

The airline down the road has the right idea, not everyone has a 'nuclear family', or indeed, living relatives in which case staff travel is pretty much useless if you only need/want standby tickets.... I think X amount of tickets/dependents per crew is much more fair than "okay so you have four kids, and you're an orphan, so you get 6 tickets and you get none"?

Have seen plenty of maids in J class, they are usually the ones asking if drinks/food are included in the ticket. Please explain to her that she can have whatever she wants

D'ya know, when I first saw this I thought it was a joke.
The world is going to hell in a handcart, this venue is full of people who can barely put a crust on their family's table, and we're worried about business class for the maid!
Oh woe is me! We should all have such worries.
By all means enquire about this most pressing of tribulations, but have a little sensitivity, and do it somewhere else!

Rant over, Stig

Meh....I dunno Flyingstig....if someone wants to to pay a bit extra of their own money to put their maid in business class then so be it and its a relevant question.

I just hope the maid is providing some extra curricular services for such generous treatment!

So by Stig's logic everyone should just stop earning once they can feed themselves and shouldn't strive for anything else? I am pretty sure you earn above the poverty line..? how do you know the original poster doesn't help those you mention? Pretty tall horse you have there...

Fyi many people send their maid J class in lieu of extra monetary payments, overtime etc...

It was a rant, no malice intended! Honest.
Actually I think it's cool that you can afford to have a maid and send her J!
I still maintain it must seem slightly surreal to some who frequent these hallowed pages!

Fill yer boots boys!

The reason that J class is in question is probably for no other reason than Y is almost always full on the routes to the maids home country and getting them on with standbye tickets is becoming more and more difficult. J class on those routes gives us more options.

Hey Stig, it's Dubai, you're not in Kansas anymore!!!

I too found it weird when I first arrived but hey, horses for courses as they say...

Some people like to fly their maid J since crossing between Y and J is discouraged, therefore easier for her to come and attend to 'the children'. Which is nicer than dumping her in Y with the kids and living it up in F

380 is right, much easier to get onload on staff tickets in J, if you are so lucky to have that benefit.
