More than troublesome...try getting a visit visa for more than 30 days for a relative...it's easier to open a bank account in AUH or get the UAE ID card! Thanks a bunch Mr. Prime Minister...who by the way seems to think its ok to sell off Jasper National Park to his pals south of the border..(thread creep...sorry about that, its a sensitive subject...)

Corrections:
1. Vancouver, Canada has ICAO and IATA codes of CYVR and YVR. VC is generally accepted as an abbreviation for Victoria Cross, a medal awarded by the British.
2. "Whale" is a moniker popularly reserved for the B747 aircraft. The A380 usually is referred to as the Gay-380, the A180, or just plain ugly.
As far as Canadians moving on from Emirates, I know that some take the tax-free earnings, widebody experience, and hot young wife they've acquired somewhere a little less despotic for some contract work or semi-retirement.
Seeing as most of the whining for more Canadian flights seems to come from self-interested Canadian pilots at EK who simply want more flights home (and for some inexplicable reason, Aussies who perhaps just want to see Canada suffer the same fate as their own airlines?), hopefully SEA will ease their pain a bit. There's always a way to dump cheap goods somehow.

Nolimitholdem.....
Looks like you must be one of the few who didn't pass the EK interview... Sorry to hear that. Your anger and resentment is easily detected.
Hopefully you will find a B1900 job up in the BC mountains.... or maybe North Air will accept you app.
Either way, good luck.

EK are actually looking to transport Canadian citizens from the sub-continent home. There are now over a million in country so it would be a very lucrative revenue source.
Don't understand the whinging after all Canada is just like Dubai. Same temperature, just a different sign!

I see you are not entirely up to date. The A380 is also referred to as "the pregnant Beluga Whale with Down Syndrome."
