Let me get this straight. Pilots going to jail for complaining. Last one out, turn out the lights.

Just post through a proxy?

Unless you are connecting to said proxy from within Qatar there is no problem.

Illegal airlines

EY, EK, and QR are nasty and law-breaking companies. Just an opinion.

What utter rubbish. Is this one of those "YHBT" (You Have Been Trolled) pieces ? Whistleblower must be laughing his (or proably her) socks off. Got a few chaps worried. Interesting that there has been not one single comment from one single mod. Anyone from PPrune care to comment ? Roadrunner, give us the address of the "letter" you hav received. PPrune may have a case to answer themselves if they have broken confidentiality laws....oh it goes on & on.

Whistleblower is either EY management or failed applicant or sacked employee or a Troller.

Now lets get back to slagging eachother off & crticising inept management. Few will chase you with a libel case because they know lots of unsavoury stuff would surface in any court hearing.

The Mods are not commenting, maybe there is something to this. This can only end badly if it is true, the forum would have lost the faith in it's participants and the airline would find it harder to recruit pilots. I am taking a wait and see attitude.

What confidentiality laws would PPRuNe have broken? Do you know something we don't or are you just playing at being a barrack room Lawyer?

maybe it's time to base your views on hard facts
I think the concern is that an entity such as Etihad does not require any justification to dismiss someone (as anyone who has been dismissed in the ME can attest to). Just disagreeing with the boss can be enough. If Etihad were to decide that posters were having a detrimental effect, say, on their ability to hire pilots, even by posting information which is factual, then it is quite possible for them to dismiss people without any recourse/redress. "You are not in Kansas anymore, Toto". Sometimes, losing your job and having your visa withdrawn can be quite disruptive to one's life, let alone being sued/charged.

Varmint you nailed it. If an organisation thinks that the postings of a few individuals are dammaging to them , then they have no idea the dammage they are doing to themselves with such a proposed course of action. It would be like giving yourself leprosy ! Very unwise . No one would want to work for an organisation that behaved in such a way and exisiting loyal employees would actively look for an exit as the writing is on the wall. Time for some very carefull mature deliberation on all sides. Actions have far reaching consequences.

An excellent thread. It amazes me that people still think that ANYTHING they do on the internet is completely anonymous. There is always a way to trace it.

More basically, a few key questions in the cockpit can reveal several chronic posters. It makes me laugh that they have no clue how obvious they are! Unfortunately a persons desire to be heard doesn't stop when they punch in for work.

I can't help to notice the low activity from the usual posters since this thread was started.

Perhaps we can get back to useful information as opposed to EK and EY bashing.

Yeah, muzzled by fear. Surpress, brutally and there are no voices. And if we succumb, no point in debate. Welcome back to the dark age. Get real chaps, this is just a troll. I will prove it right now . James Hogan is a top Guy, the best, in fact, in the business. The BMI Mafia are the nicest you will ever find, anywhere, in aviation and care, desperately, especially about the way you look. Oooooooh no, have I just spoiled the widely held image of Etihad? Damn, I might be held accountable & face Libel charges. Oh, I am soooo scared.

And, still no comment from any Mod. Still no reply to reveal specific addresses of the Law Firms issuing warning letters ! Oh & c'mon Management, issue a specific warning, on these pages & sign it !

I rest my case.

The management can be scared after what happened in Lybia, Egypt and so on ... t.w.i.t.t.e.r and f.a.c.e.b.o.o.k were network enabler for a revolution ... they might think Pprune will lead to a union ...

don't be fooled

If anyone was to suffer consequences from breach of privacy Pprune and whoever is behind will never finishin paying.
It cannot happen period. Nabarro is a law firm that helped Etihad win a lawsuit against Force India F1 team. Whistleblower is just a fokker jocker.
Still it is really funny how being employed by these Middle Age middle eastern airlines makes people paranoid. You should have stayed home my friends where rule of law, human rights, unions and generally civilization are given fact instead of living in terror working for this slavery prone fokkers.
They think they can conquer the world of aviation and to get a general credibility by corrupting or just by buying it ( CNN, FIFA) but they are missing a variable.... kind of the same Mubarak Gheddafi and Saleh...did not put in their equation.
Can someone bring me some oranges in the Murabbakat jail..please.

Where does Microsoft enter this mess?

Normally I'd cry to this whole story but it's veeeerrrry strange that this thread has been running for a few days now and no comment from PPRuNe management ... can one of the mods please get in here and confirm or deny what's going on asap!!

If it's for real that airline management have finally managed to compromise the anonymity of PPRuNe posters, and people have lost jobs over it, whether it's in the Gulf or anywhere else, then it's a pretty big story, it will basically be the end of the website as far as I'm concerned with regard to serious discussion / criticism of airlines from a professional pilot point of view. We've all got too much to lose. Guess some other website will pick up the slack soon enough though

Maybe it is possible to crack the lock of anonymity by legal action.
By legal action or just the threat of legal action?

Rolling Over

Internet privacy 101 for Pprune.org Log into your control panel and ensure who can see your contact details are listed as friends only. On this website it's defaulted to "everyone" similiar to Faceb00k settings. If it is listed as anyone, then anyone can see who you are, if you put accurate contact information.
