And that would be based on which version of the manpower plan? Todays' version, yesterdays', the day before yesterday....

Fact to the matter is that these bavoons seem to be changing planning strategy on a day to day base, so who cares?
Upgrades canceled today, tomorrow on again.
Instructor upgrades on today, probably canceled tomorrow just as they were last week.
Too many pilots a week ago, all hands on deck today because 20% short.

Hello Hushkit, did you get shown the accommodation and , if so, what was it like? Was it the 534 appartments arranged in 4 - 5 storey blocks? If not did the accommodation have a name so that I can google it?
What fleet are you being offered?

Anybody called for interview/hired as FO recently with "1000 hours on high performance military jets"? I am in that category, have applied twice but heard nothing.

Great new to hear that you got the job offer. What are the terms and conditions that they offered? I have accepted the invite to interview but before I buy a ticket for my wife I want to know more......they are not very forthcoming with details.

Their website is incredibly vague and quotes only 2 figures....Captains get a tax free salary of approximately US$ 11,300 (assuming 70 block hours) while First Officers get a tax free salary of approximately US$ 8,100 (assuming 70 block hours). Surely the salary on the A320 cant be same as the heavies? Are these figures correct or is PPJN correct?

And I heard that they only provide school assistance for the 1st sprog. You have to pay for any others. Is that true?

What about bonding?

Even better news.
I have heard that the single aisle order will be as high as 150 new aircraft.

Let the good times roll!!

There is a rumour spreading around that QR is now accepting Gulf Nationals with no jet/prop experience (straight out from flying schools)!! Anybody heard of such a thing??? Don't reckon it's true though!!

Interesting thread....

I was thinking of putting an application in myself. Does anyone know the level of experience guys are getting in with now? Just under 2000 turbo prop time here, was thinking of going for the fast track SO route. Airline sounds terrible but things aren't much better here

advice greatly appreciated cheers

Airline sounds terrible
Well CX, EK, EY, BA sounds terrible too ... but if they offer you a job WWYD?

Brian

Would love to know why you think BA sounds terrible??
I think they loose something stupid like 3% of their pilots to resignation and the other 97% to retirement.
Compare that to any of your previously mentioned airlines especially the Gulf ones.

Doesn't sound like the guys flying there find it that terrible

Now BA have opened up again think you might find quite a few Brits fed up of the sand pit heading back to BA in a few months!!

They have been hiring second officers for a long time to come with no Jet or turboprop experience straight onto the 320 , 330 , 300

This inlcudes both Gulf as well as International applicants

Hi Everybody.

Just I want to know if Qatar is still screening people for first officers vacancies and how many f/os will the need from now. Also does anybody could tell how long I have to wait since I applied until they call for the assessment.

What type of examns could I expect ? I will appreciate any feedback.

Thanks.

They can get them from the US. Last year, the FAA licensed 500 or so new Commercial Pilots.....that is correct, around 500, for the whole country.

In the US the number of new PPL, CPL, Instrument, and ATP pilots has been declining the past 12 years.

If you are US or have a green card, American Eagle, the largest regional airline, just dropped their mins to 500/50, and said that all Eagle pilots who join by this Fall will have a guaranteed seat in a new hire class at American Airlines down the road.

They are desperate, partly because in 2 years every airline pilot in the us will have to have a full ATP (no frozen ATPs here)....so every new joiner will need ATP which is currently at 1500 hours total time, with a lot of new added requirements to qualify for the ATP also.
