Heard Prestige lost their AOC in the UAE. Any truth to that?

Whack-a-Mole

It's up for renewal and they have to get recertified. If GCAA actually does its job, that should be difficult due to a number of organizational issues such as missing Post Holders, manuals not updated, records poorly kept and virtually nothing done according to regulations for at least the past two years. Quality Assurance Post Holder just left, too.

But, who cares? Prestige Jet snubs its nose at GCAA, regulations, regulators and the courts anyway - who needs an AOC when you operate like Buccaneers? Witness the discussion above regarding the N-registered B737-500 operated in public commercial service under US FAR 91 without any AOC or regulatory oversight of any kind.

They have an AOC in Jordan and, in any case, are transferring everything to a Moroccan AOC and changing the name of the entire operation to Mediterranean Jets, in order to try to hide from the Prestige Jet name around the industry.

That Didn't Last Long - Capt Cal Gone?

I heard that Capt "I can't think of one complaint here at PJ" Cal walked off the airplane in London and went home - because he wasn't paid.

I quote what Capt Cal said, in Post # 382, Page 20 of this thread:

I'm flying a great deal and haven't had any problems getting paid.... I can't think of one complaint here at PJ... I've been flying over 26 yrs in the US which include everything from FAA parts 91, 135 and 121 and not to mention the Navy, all which have proven to be the real tyrants and couldn't hold a candle to PJ! I for one never wish to return to the US, this is too great a deal. I think the guys that were here that just pissed and moaned and had shown to be a problem instead of just going with the flow have been the ones to take a bullet!
That was 15 November, three weeks ago. Now he's gone running home to US, after all?

Capt. Cal, if you are on PPRuNe and this is not true, please publish a correction and I will apologize for passing this information, which I received on good authority.

If it is true, perhaps you may want to set the record straight and apologize for what you said to and about your colleagues here. Thank you.

Prestige Jet - Mediterranean Jet, All the Same

We wish CaptCal well on his sad journey back to US, to which he never wished to return, despite his disappointing lack of respect and regard for his fellow aviators here. Perhaps he will take more serious note of the counsel of his colleagues, in the future.

And perhaps others reading this thread on PPRuNe will take a cautionary tale from CaptCal's experience, namely that what has been discussed on this thread is true and accurate and that choosing to ignore it while preferring to sell your soul to Prestige Jet is a very expensive transaction for which you will not receive your due.

That also goes for Mediterranean Jet, the future name of Prestige Jet meant to hide the company from the bad image and forsaken obligations of Prestige Jet, to date - do not be fooled, fellow aviators and suppliers.

I heard a previous Hawker guy at PJ has now been "promoted" to the BBJ. Guess they bought his loyalty with a new type.

It's not a BBJ, it's a 737-500 in business class configuration.

The kid was hired as a Hawker 900 pilot because his father made an investment in the plane when it was first delivered. Very low time, no heavy jet experience, no PIC.

Other guy being promoted to fly the 737-500 also no PIC experience, 605 and Sovereign copilot with about 2500 hours.

Interesting pair to send up in a large aircraft.

But, then, this aircraft operates under no AOC, being operated as US FAR Part 91 operation despite being a public commercial aircraft - we've discussed that a page or two back - so no regulatory oversight of any kind.

Sounds like a potential disaster in the making. But what's new at PJ...

CaptCal's True Reason for Leaving?

Hey, FlyTCI, if you know CaptCal from another forum, I wonder if you can reach out to him to verify this: I have it on good authority that the pay thing was an easy smokescreen, but that he really left because he did realize that the operation he was flying is illegal and that he could lose his license if he continued operating the B737 in commercial service under US FAR Part 91 - as discussed extensively in this thread about two pages back.

I would like to know if the legality is really the reason CaptCal left. His leaving allegedly over pay right after he said he has no trouble being paid doesn't sound very plausible, does it?

The other thing I'd love to know is: since CaptCal obviously had no use, regard or respect for any of us, I doubt that he suddenly grew a conscience because of the regulations which were quoted on this thread. That makes me wonder if some authority - FAA or EASA, since he jumped ship in London - got to CaptCal? That would be a very interesting development: intimating that, although GCAA doesn't care, maybe other authorities are finally looking at this operation?

Danger Watch Out for N647SR

Better alert the controllers to give N647SR a lot of room, if that is going to be the composition of its crew. Two underqualified pilots operating a B737 without an AOC or any regulatory oversight is an accident looking for a place to happen.

Too bad the authorities don't care. Maybe we can get their attention if we ask the controllers to keep them away from us in the pattern.

some one paid up !

During a visit to the MOL in Abu Dhabi yesterday, a spy tells me that 'someone' from pj's ownership visited recently and paid off many of the outstanding judgements. So if you have an outstanding judgement, check with the court, you may get a pleasant surprise.

The history is better than a rumor

PJ in past writes checks to MOL without money behind the check. it is not possible for them to pay the money they owe to all people.
