But you can't fly 90+ hrs every month and 100+ in December? That is more than 1100 hrs!

Yes, I do. The numbers do not add up.
With or without factoring, either you fly a lot less than you claim, or you have a lot more time off.
Are you guys lying in order to scare people off?

Xiaman----the math is basic. 90 hours a month times 10 months is 900 hours. The next 42 days are vacation. That leaves a half month. We havn't even taken into consideration factoring and bunk time. Or the fact that any training is not included in that time.

I love it when I fly with newish guys and they start to get that mildly confused look in their eyes.

I normally say something along the lines of, 'you read Pprune, didn't believe any of it, and even if you did, you thought it would be different for you... Am I right?'

Why do EK pilots feel the need to bash our airline?

I come on PPRuNe and read these threads, and wonder how my experience could be so different than everyone else? I read about fatigue and flying too much.

My schedule this month.. did one r/t Athens, and upcoming I have two r/t's to Seattle, with a week in between trips. Total flying days in December? Five. Fatiguing? I think not. This is by far the best job I can imagine having.

Emirates rostering practices are terrible.

The single greatest treat to safety/security in Emirates is FATIGUE.

ANYONE joining this airline is going to suffer - health and family life will suffer.

The single greatest threat to safety/security at Emirates is BAD ATTITUDES. The bad attitudes must end.

I have so much pride about what I have helped build here at Emirates. I have helped build what is the envy of many. The only thing that can hurt us is bad attitudes. As I am fond of saying, if you don't like it here -- LEAVE! We do not need negativity at our crown jewel of an airline.

KCW, I'm guessing you are Emirati, management, a troll or possibly all three?

It is an impressive airline, but it only got to be that way on the backs of hard working employees who have seen their conditions continually eroded. If so many people have a bad attitude you have to begin to wonder why that might be.

BigG, I laughed so hard I fired tea out of my nose when I read KCW's last post. Did a look back, he was flying a DA2000 from SFO a year or so ago, got lots of experience over here then...

"The bad attitudes must stop"!!! Seriously dude, what planet are you on. It's that 'attitude' that's got the company where it is today. The management don't even consider us as lumps of meat. To them, we're nothing more than robots, devoid of any needs other than to lay down our lives for this company. IT'S A SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIP, not a 'keep pushing them regardless' relationship that works in corporations of this size and the sooner they realise this, the sooner we will stop telling people on the outside exactly how it is. Or maybe we will start posting about how good it is...

Pride, you say. The management have very effectively taken away any pride that most of the pilots who've been here more than a couple of years ever had. I'll tell you what's left when you take pride away, resentment, resignation and a lack of motivation.

You're fond of saying 'if you don't like it leave'... Oh that's a good attitude... Come to think of it, that's exactly what's happening now, and I suspect it'll only get worse this year. Be careful what you 'fondly' wish for.

You've been here, what, less than 2 years and all of a sudden you've got the problems solved.

You are right !! Way too many guys here are complaining. EK is a best airlines in the world really. I got exactly what I signed for and more...
that said, all of you pilots out there should apply and join. We need you badly 🙏🙏🙏.
I have been here years and all my class mates are gone but they were all idiots. I'm the only smart one 👍👋🏿.

Thanks, Trader. Yes, it is pretty basic, but this is what people are saying:
Flying in excess of 90 hrs/month. 30 days leave, not 42 days. 60 hrs flown in a leave month (2 week blocks) so add 120 hrs to those 90+ monthly hours. No or very little factoring on the T7. So total somewhere between 1000 and 1100 hrs.
OK?

But then Mr Yorkshire Pudding says:

Ok, you will fly 900 hours a year in the seat plus augmenting hours on top. Most are at 895+ rolling.
Again, the numbers do not add up. Am I a troll for pointing this out?

SOPS, with all due respect, you have left EK. You have no right to tell me to stop asking questions. Should I guess, you are close to 60 with more than 15 years in EK. Full payout from the provident fund, and good savings from a "long" EK carreer. You can afford to retire. Good for you!

... and don't forget the positioning time for the freighter flights if you on the 777. This does not go in the log book, but you are at work. On the plus side, time spent positioning does count towards productivity total. Some freight trips have upwards of 20 hours positioning.

Xiamen. Actually there is a lot of factoring on the 777. If you have not been flying any ULR (no factoring to date) you will be rostered for ULR's since the bunk time does not count towards the regulatory 900 hours. You will be rostered for freighter trips which involve lots of DHing and do not count towards the 900 hours.

In those case you get paid for the hours but they will take you significantly above 900 hours. When we add in training etc you will find that you get 30 days of leave, spread out over the year (the other 12 day no one seems to be getting).

So you will work 11 months and fly/be at work well over 1000 hours a year.

To accomplish that you will have to 'work' 95 hours+ a month in the months you work.
