Do your research properly.

This airline isn't what it used to be. Don't let the shiny Emirates brand fool you.

Been here 10+ years and I wouldn't recommend my enemy to work here let alone my friends.

Many guys dreaming about moving to ME carriers thinking it's the best place to work proving that they work for 'the best' carriers in the world but don't think about life there! Ask yourself if you could live in a desert for a long time always using an aircon in your apartment between concrete jungles! What will your family say after several months, will they be happy with that?you will be out of green trees, fresh cold air, snow and rain, common life you used to have before! You thonk that it'll be a great career move maybe for some people getting more money, but actually your mental will be under great pressure all the time and you'll dream about getting time back... That's just my opinion about what you can expect to get...

PSP 1 Invitation

Hey guys,

got invited for PSP1 a few days ago and it said that I should confirm which days I will be available to an e-mail address. However since that I did not get any confirmation of the dates or any briefing package.

Did anyone else experience this sort of problem and if so how long do I have to wait to receive an answer?

Thx for the replies

Nope, that sounds about right.

Typical level of organization and respect for employees.

It really is a polished turd, and finally that truth is sinking in.

So would you guys suggest to get on their nerves and politely continue to ask for confirmation of the dates?

I think us guys on the inside would suggest that, unless you enjoy being messed about like this, you look for a job somewhere else. It is a taste of things to come if you do join

Big G,
Do you really think anybody on this thread will listen to someone with inside experience?
Experience tells me their are a bunch of guys out there chomping on the bit to go to the big dance with the "pretty girl" (ie. shiny jet) at EK...at any cost, blinders on... full speed ahead! Sadly like many relationships, and many a prom, what initially seems like the "pretty girl" comes with a lot of baggage and many a dysfunctional "family" members...
Sure is fun in the short run to show off the arm candy... perhaps a roll or two in the hay.. until of course, reality sets in... and you have to live with the b*tch... (and the family). And when reality finally does set in... good luck with the divorce.. it can be costly.

Well none of you did answer my questions. All I heard so far was how bad it is and so on but my question was actually whether it helps to get a confirmation if I get on their nerves or not and how can you guys know whether EK is for me or not. Maybe I work in far worse conditions at the moment. Maybe I have a wife and a family living there or what not.

All I can say about this industry in general is that no matter if you go to work for United, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines or a low cost carrier such as Ryanair and so on there is always Pilots complaining about how bad it is.

They just won't listen. Go on, enjoy the EK "dream". But don't come here in a year and start complaining.

Well as I tried to mention before I wouldn't know where else to apply and I certainly do not want to go to china or KAL.

PSP2

Hello guys,
I passed PSP1(FO) in AMS mid june, and i am still waiting for a PSP2 date. The thing is that some guys did PSP1 a week or two after me and they got already their interview date in DXB for August and September. I have already sent an email to the interviewer to have an update but he is not replying. Does anyone in the same situation or know how does it work for them with the interview?

Shortlisted for interview

Hi Fdoff. Congrats on clearing the PSP1. I got a mail last week, saying I am shortlisted for the interview. Could you tell me how in how much time can I expect the next mail. And also, could you please give me some info on the PSP 1 process.

Thanks.

finally I went and I saw and felt what of all the post are all about ...first time in my life that I am happy not to be hired ,the few moments I spent in DXB I only heard the instructors talking about the reality there , a relative of my wife he has 10 years here and is leaving dubai to china ! Premium inn 3 star hotel , nobody from HR reachable if You need to change the return ticket , agresive emirates 24/7 smartless phone operator as well in counter 612 the same answer unable to change your booking , by the other side HR pushing You to leave the hotel because You do not pass stage X , XX or whatever ! no mail answer , no phone answer , nobody to help You ! And plannig to lower the FD requiremets due to the fact the fail rate is high ! The thruth is posted in this forum ...but if you do not believe try the assestment !

It's always the ones who fail that have the most to complain about.
