80% pass rate

Fubaliera

80% of the attendees pass Compass so it doesn't seem T H E selective factor in the scheme.

check it directly

pity they still sticking to the over 30tonne rule though... You could have 10000hours as a PIC on CRJ's but be overlooked for someone who has 3000 tt on a boeing..
Capt. Stephens reflected some flexibility during the Gatwick event, I guess it's worthy to contact him directly to clarify individual parameters. They obeviously have a huge demand, this could be the background for some "special deals" maybe.

My application went from "Applied" to "Shortlisted" after 4 days of applying...not sure what the order is but I would say that your status will change to "Shortlisted"....

To sijet,

Hi, I know your post was put on ages ago but I've just come across it now. Your post is interesting, although I'm not a pilot, I am an Ex Crew member and I can tell you now, a LOT of the crew felt and still feel the same. They're not all from the UK, though. Some are from countries in a much worse situation than the UK and they STILL want to leave Dubai. In fact, most of the crew who resigned around the same time as me were leaving because they didn't like Dubai (and the job) or they had been flying for so long it was boring for them. I hated Dubai! That was my main reason for leaving, I think a lot of people from the UK, Australia, NZ etc leave early as they don't like the restrictions.

HI. I just got called for an interview in DXB for F/O on Airbus fleet. 11000 TT, 5500 h on A320 and B737 above 55 t as PIC. How long is the wait list for an upgrade in EK? Or should I stay flying A320 as PIC now?

I have been here almost 2 years on 330/340 fleet.
I don't think I will get an upgrade on the 380/350 for another 5 years minimun!
(that's my personal guess, could be more!)

Even if you join direct F/O on the 380 now, there is already way too many F/O ready to upgrade, add on that, all the 330/340 captain waiting for a fleet transfert and the 100ish captain they just transfert from the 777.

If you are only looking to come for a quick upgrade, just forget EK or at least the Airbus fllet both 330/340 and 380!

Have fun.

more like 6 years on Airbus now. Joining now will be at least 8-9 years and that is optimistic.

On another thread someone posted that in the last 12 months nearly 40% of pilot recruitment was DEC. Maybe we should factor that into any command expectations. If they ramp it up to 50% there will be no internal commands at all.

There was a time when EK was a small airline with rapid growth and this equaled rapid command. Then it was a medium size airline with even more rapid growth and even more rapid commands. Now it's a very big airline that can't grow too much more due to the physical limitations of the local airports and UAE airspace. Never mind that their network already comprehensively covers all the inhabited continents. Trans-Pacific is all that's missing and it will come but through existing destinations.

At some point soon and it may already have happened new joiners will see the growth stop before their turn for the left seat comes up. Sure, Emirates has a shed load of orders but many of them are for replacement aircraft not additional. They're also for bigger aircraft. EK will carry 20-40% more traffic just by replacing small aircraft with big ones and no more pilots needed at all!

Consider discussing this with HR at your interview.

Can anybody expand on the pay point scale at EK? I read somewhere that its structured over 30 years. Since there are no longer fast upgrades, it perhaps becomes of more interest.

For FO new joiner, basic of 25,320 AED pm. Year 30 = 30,320 AED... Is this really correct? I read somewhere else it was around 3,5% annual increment.

Whats the latest on income tax. I heard a new employment tax might be introduced in Dubai? In so far as UAE is concerned, is your salary tax free when you take it out of the state?

42 days annual leave... Any restrictions imposed on when you can take it, do you get confirmed seats for travel home?

Lastly, what are the route prospects for the Boeing fleet? The 380 seems to be taking over a lot of the more desirable routes (some seasonal) with a lot of airframes still to come. Will the T7 end up like the 330/340 in 5-10 years time.... Some nice destinations, but mainly ME night turn rounds, etc. Thanks

Why do you think there is an increment? The website indicates it's a flat salary - surely they'd mention increments?

As for income tax - I believe it's 'against' their religion - it's a haram.

I'm interested in the responses to your questions too.
