Easy there Fred....Have to agree, we're not talking about a Manhattan project here. You spent all that time with a response to a response?? Just don't answer the question, and be helpful if possible.

Frames; Do your due dilegence, like asking questions, and like most the transition will be smooth. Some of the questions were subjective and don't have a black and white answer.

If you want an international lifestyle, then EK is a good option. If you have the opportunity to move into Air Canada, then probably a wise move. Staying at Jazz would be fine as well, if your lifestlye and staying close to home is important to you. EK is dynamic ( good and not so good ), with a modern widebody fleet and the chance to travel the world. Many opinions here, but the best thing is to come over and see for yourself and make up your own mind.

IMO, the Airbus would be the better fleet for starting today. Money is good if your single and average if married with kids. Inflation is an issue and a pay raise is certainly required this year. The dollar is also an issue, and might be an on-going concern in the future.

All in all, probably a good move from Jazz, again IMO.

Saltaire thanks for your input.

Just an interesting side note there are 227 Threads on the Emirates if I use the search with hundreds of posts per thread. So I pulled three at random and came to an average of 200 posts per thread. So that's about 45,400 posts assuming it takes 1 minute per post that's about 3,1 24 hour days of reading threads to look for the information.

I'm just saying.

paperwork for the interview

Comanche:
just write an email to your recruiter at EK, and tell her what you can bring, and what you can't, and ask if that's acceptable.

I had a JAA license from one country, and a medical from another JAA country, and that was ok.

If you have a printout of your electronic logbook without a confirmation, the original logbooks have to be used for confirmations. If you have confirmations for only a part of your flight time, just tell them, and ask if they accept that. I have not been able to get everything confirmed within two weeks, given that some of my former employers are bankrupt, and others in different countries.
Funny: just two months ago you needed 10 passport photos. Of course it feels unnecessary to bring so many, if maybe you don't get hired, but its no big deal to get them I guess.

Flight rebooking: I had a standby ticket for the way home, and stayed longer anyway, so I didn't care. But if they can't rebook you because their flights are full, then you probably get the originally booked flight, and two days off in sunny Dubai.

Good luck at the interview!

Post 2545, two pages before.

Fred, your post was great. It's a shame it's not available any more.

(I would have been thankful and not arrogant. Kids. No respect. It's just sad... Too rebellius. Lazy. They will not be hired anyways. End of story.)

Anyone had any experience with this company that advertise on pprune for EK Interview prep in London? Just wondering what they're all about.

FO Accommodation

Hi all,

Any single FO, or those who've seen, care to share what his/her accommodation is like? From my friends who have done the selection process they were all shown Cabin Crew (?) flats as all Flight Deck ones weren't available.

Also if you do opt to take the 'on your own' rent allowance, I understand that you cannot go back into provided accommodation. Does that also apply to upgrades or if you have a child out there? i.e can you then be allowed a house or are you; 'once out the system, never back in it'?

Many thanks in advance.

Going for an interview soon, can anyone answer the following:

- do EK have AMS nightstops?

- is it true that when you have leave booked in any given month, you will end up flying almost the normal 95 hrs or so, compressed in 2-3 weeks? Seen posts like that, but perhaps that is more exception than rule.

- is pick up time before any flight the same for Capt as for FO, or first the FO is picked up who may have to put up with riding to the other end of town to pick up the Capt before heading to the airport, adding 1 hr to his journey?

- is smoking banned in restaurants etc now in Dubai (ok, not an aviation theme, but important to me)

THANKS!

prejudice against Canadians ?

Hi, given the current political situation is there any prejudice when hiring ?

Are the Canadian pilots now working for Emirates subject to any special "treatment". Just wondering.....

I was there at the beginning of this month for the selection and 3 out of the 4 guys doing the sim assessments and interviews were Canadians (1 French Canadian).

I imagine if there were any bad feelings towards you guys they wouldn't hold these positions!

Don't know for sure though!
