I was at the US Regional in question for 4 years. Left about 6 months ago. Been on a 737 in the mideast since.

Yeah what you're saying makes complete sense in that a quick phone call could get them to fax/email me a print out of my hours.

I've known folks who've lost their logbooks in the past and needed their times from the company - nobody had a clue on what and how to provide them with what is needed. I'll give it a go - but I won't hold my breath.

My current company with whom I've been with for about 4 months and have logged about 400 hours has stamped my logbook. I think I'll get them to 'sign' it too. Will that be sufficient?

My only thing is that the bulk of my hours have been from my US Regional carrier. About 2500 Jet worth to be precise. I don't want ANYONE to question me on that time as it took me 4 long hard years to accumulate.

BG, just to clarify, you don't need a whole print out of your hours from them. All they need them to do is type up a letter, on company letter head, saying that you acquired 2500 hours while employed at ABC Regional Airline. It's literally a 2 paragraph letter. As long as it's on company letter head and signed by C.P. or equivilent, should be fine.

Fred, I will give this a go in the morning. Though I am pretty sure nobody at the airline will want to take the liability to do such a deed - have seen people in the past go though it. I'll give the CP a call about it.

Just on the other hand - will it be a TOTAL NO-NO if I can't get anything from them? I mean, I do have everything stamped (and will be signed) from my current airline.

I rather have the letter (from the US airline) but can't bank on it.

You overstress for small things in my opinion. The guys at the interview are super cool and if you miss any document you can always send it later via email if you make it through day 4. They told us that 60-70% of the people after day 4 need additional medical exams or additional statements/letters to provide. If you explain them they will understand . Luckily my medical/papers were ok. Cheers everything will be ok!

Hello. I have just accepted an interview at EK at short notice - I have just 6 days to prep of which I am working 4 so up against it. Does anyone have any tips or advise they could PM me regarding the process? Given the length of this thread it would take all of my 6 days just to read it!. I am grateful for your help.

Emirates Sim interview

I am furloughed UAL
I recently took a regional job to get current after 2 years out of the cockpit. Flying CRJ-700. Updated app after my first 10 hours/2 days of IOE. Within 2 days, Emirates shortlisted me. The following day I was offered a sim at the Delta training center in Atlanta. I have the sim coming up 5 Nov 2010.

Any advice for the sim? Does anyone know if it is the A-330 or the B-777 sim and do we get a choice?
I am more current on the Bus (A-320).

Emirates Sim Interview

Hey GoJetBusdriver -- I just did the sim in Atlanta. They are very friendly and keep you at ease! We met in a briefing room and the Emirates instructors went over the sim evaluation.... basic 121 checkride stuff (do a visual traffic pattern, V1 cut, and ILS to land and go missed -- pretty straight forward). I passed and have my 4 day interview in Dubai in November --- hope to see you in Dubai! Good luck!

question for US guys; going to ATL selection event

thanks for the previous post about the sim event in ATL. so its just a sim event? any way to prepare? so far i have been treating this like a PC and studying profiles for MY airplane with the premonition that in ATL they will give us power settings and other directives on flying the sim...

also, how did you present your verified logbook flight times, by stamp from FAA/company or otherwise? i emailed recruitment about getting a letter from chief pilot instead but no reply yet.... it looks like others have made this work but just checking...

pilotcpb --- It is just a SIM event (mine was on the 777)...they let you use all of your company call-outs and procedures. Absolutely treat this like a PC and you will be fine. As far as the log book goes... my log book was not stamped (the Emirates pilot I flew with asked if it was stamped and when I told him "no" he said no problem, looked through them, and gave them back to me).

Advanced Compass Testing

I was hoping someone could help me out with understanding what is involved with the "Advanced Compass Testing" part of the interview. They say it includes comprehensive skills and an aptitude test... but could anyone be a little more specific? How many questions? What are the basic topics? Any information would be really appreciated!!

Blue Skies

I am just going from memory here, so some items may be omitted.

1)Psych assessment personality questionaires, can't study for that, just answer the questions. Example... I like to kill puppies...agree or disagree.

2)Spatial and Memory tests. Change frequencies, altitudes, speeds, while looking for a flashing X. Testing memory while being distracted. Some questions similar to ATP question, regarding position of A/C in relation in to an NDB/VOR.

3)Some basic maths, nothing to complex, basic High School Stuff.

4)Some basic ATP Theory questions, some based on JAR OPS rules, again nothing to tricky.

5)Basic coordination exercise with Rudder and Joystick.

Most of the stuff you can't really prepare for, other than maybe doing some soduku or pattern type puzzles from the Saturday or Sunday paper. They give you a full explanation of how it all works beforehand, and you get a practise try before the recording starts. So relax, just be yourself.

There is a lot of info in this thread. Try to wade through the thousands of posts, and you'll get a pretty good idea what to expect.

Good Luck

Command in Ek

Does anyone knows how long it takes to get command In Emirates? Does having a lot of hrs on type will help accelerate your chances of jumping to the left seat?

I have total of 6000+ hrs and nearly 2000 hrs on the B777 all variants.

vserian,
There is a policy for accelerated command. However it will only be used once all those FOs that are SENIOR to you and are eligible for a command have been used up. Since time to command is going past the minimum of the required 3yrs in the company there is no need for accelerated command for the foreseeable future.
So I would suggest you don't factor in being able to trample over the other more SENIOR FOs by stealing their commands before them.
If you search this site you will find guesses of time to command ranging from 5 to 10yrs. We will only really know in 5 to 10yrs who was right. At the moment it is taking appox 4.5yrs to 5yrs. I think EK has 140ish aircraft now, so when they get 280 aircraft the fella presently at the bottom of the list should get his command. I do not know when delivery of 280 will happen.

Once you arrive to DXB for your training do you have to repeat the whole GCAA medical exams? Or the ones you did on day 4 will count towards it and you only have to do the vaccinations upon arrival? Just wondering
