I found on the emirates website after a bit of digging that they don't.

I didn't think it did, but a few skippers at my current airline told me it did.

Aim for the trees?

It would seem that alot of pilots are unhappy in Dubai, is it cus their expectactations are too high or that what the company delivers is crp. If one were to lower his expectations to being paid at the end of the month would that make a difference?

Can someone share some info on the latest written test(I tried to search for it but only couple things from 1-2 years ago)? You can pm me or publish it here . Is it true that the fail % is pretty high at the interview?I heard they only took 4 out of 30 in a recent one. Thanks

FO gets 45aed per hour and it is based on your rostered block time. So if you are delayed for whatever reason you don't get paid the extra.

Joining EK from QR

Hi just want to find out from the guys who have done it how they managed to transition from QR to EK. Understand there is a "soft agreement" between both companies not to poach from each other but it can be circumvented on a case by case basis. PM's are welcome. Thanks

May sound like a stupid question - but if your online application is showing 'SHORTLISTED' does that mean you'll get a call/email soon inviting you to interview or not really? If so, does anyone know of a timeframe?

Is this 45 AED paid per hour based on roostered time.. meaning that if you are roostered say 80 hrs on a given month it would be 80 x 45 = 3600 AED additional to your monthly salary of 24110 as FO?

Sorry for the dumb question, is just that I am not used to that kind of system...

Correct. Add a small exchange rate protection for non US folks as well. Plus housing, medical, education, transport, no tax...etc. It's not a win fall but but it's among the best package in the ME, and I'd personally rather live in Dubai than anywhere else in this part of the world.

I more than meet the mins of 2500 jet, but my jet is 24.2 tons. Is EK still sticking to the 30 ton rule???

for the time being, yes. But the 2500 itself was a change, so it may well change again. the 4000/2000 jet doesn't have a weight restriction, are you far off that?

Confirmed by the last two new-hires I've met. They were given a choice of fleets and got what they asked for.

You (and NLH, but that's not unusual) are simply factually incorrect here.

No problem, something changed you weren't aware of.

Question is, are you willing to admit you were wrong?

Unfortunately the 4000/2000 has a weight restriction as well so if u dont have any time over 30 tons u may have 15000 TT you still wont meet their requirements, I am hoping this restriction goes down to 10 tons soon.

BritishGuy, when the electronic application changes from pending to shortlisted, it means that they have been able to tick the boxes that you meet all the requirements. Therefore there will probably be an invitation to interview coming your way. How long it takes is a bit of a lottery, depending on how many people are out there applying with much more suitable time.
EK like to recruit people who have the highest chance of success at passing the transition course onto your next big new shiny jet, so if you are sitting right at the minimum times, you could wait for a month or two before an invite. As you can imagine, the sad collapse of Mexicana has released a pool of experienced bigger plane drivers onto the market, so they will be given a lot of the available slots (not all, because the interview process makes use of cultural diversity and our ability to operate within and tolerate those differences).
So to be blunt, if you have B777 time, you should get a call very quickly, but if you only have CRJ time, you will get an interview (we need so many pilots that they will call you) but it may take a couple of months.
When you get the interview, they will give you 3 dates to chose from. Theses dates are not the only ones you can have, if you can make it earlier or need to make it later, just communicate. They have a variety of selection dates available and are very flexible in trying to get you here, both for the interview and hopefully your start date.
Disclaimer:- this was all accurate 3 years ago when I interviewed, and apart from the world's economic brain-fart, we are in the same scenario of needing LOTS of crew, so I expect it will be very similar. Good luck.
