Know a guy who was successful in November and will be joining shortly. Isn’t the pool just for guys that are applying now?

Short list pool

Hey guys, can anyone shed some light on the following. I’ve applied and received a email stating that I’m in a shortlist pool, which is governed by marked forces. Is there anyone else in the same situation, and do you know what the prospects is for an interview date? I know that most slots on the 777 are booked for internal upgrades for most of this year. My logic is that it should speed up the process since they would need more Foes. Obviously depending on the capacity of the training department. Look forward to hear from someone with with a bit of insight. Br

Unable to login/email contact

Seeking help here. I can not login despite repeated attempts with password reset action. Is there an email or phone number to contact them on? There seems to be nothing on their website.

I´m in the same situation! I have been laid off from 1st May, so I am really hoping to be invited to an assessment soon. Seems like they have quite a few applicants these days? I guess we have to patient and wait and see.....

I have no inside information . But have you considered they are now in contraction mode?Perth has gone from 3 flights a day to 1. The BKK to SYD flight has gone.

i am thinking that demand is down

There will be no expansion on the 777 for a couple of years. Indeed, for the next couple of years aircraft will be leaving that fleet. A few 380s continue to come but there will be a net aircraft loss for at least 2 years, maybe longer. That is probably the main reason for lack of recruitment.

not normal situation, last year after few weeks waiting, EK called me for telephone interview in October, and after maybe 10 days invited for assestment in December.

FO position applied, same as you.

No email after unsuccessful assessment

Does any of you guys know what does it mean that I still didn’t recieve an email after unsuccessful first day on assessment this Feb. Although they assure all applicants that they will recieve emails stating their next probable assessment dates. Or should I email the HR and ask for a clarification?

Most of the replies on this thread are from the Western Hemisphere. From what I hear EK in their infinite wisdom is hiring a lot of sub-continent pilots, Indians and Paki’s. They come cheap and don’t complain with the added bonus of they don’t have to live in their home country.

People seem to have short memories here or choose not to read earlier posts.
Just to be clear EK has not changed miraculously overnight. They just lowered the entry requirements to get more people in.
Please don’t think this influx was because quality of life changed overnight at EK and things improved!

Maybe people don’t understand forced leave (you get it when they want with no input and no recall from you) or why the roster system is crippled to such an extent you rarely get any flights you want (important when you might want short flights to be at home but end up with ULR or trips away for many days, you might want USA but get Asia, want long trips but get turnarounds) or why being put in the housing complex with 1500 villas sharing 1 swimming pool and 1 gym is not so great!
Also no quick commands now, it will take longer than you expect.

Only think of coming if you have no other options!

The failure rate during the type rating is not insignificant, it used to be very rare that anyone failed. That’s what happens when entry standards are lowered.

Your question should be... can I survive a 100 hours a month long enough to spend the money.
