CAPT LIM

Hi Guys,

I applied emirates last year and failed the process. I was trying my luck to re apply and all they emailed me was i cant re apply with ek in the near future as they will not accept my application.

The reason being i re applied with another new email and apparently they were not happy with that. What should i do now? My career flying the shiny 777 is ruined.

This use to mean three days off after leave, allowing you to return to dxb on your last day of leave. This has now been adjusted, to only two days off . As your leave finishes at 2359hrs, it is considered that the period between 0000hrs and 0800hrs will be your first local night. So, the majority of pilots at this mostly Expat airline, travel will need to start on the second last day of leave to achieve feet on ground prior to midnight on the last day of leave. Several pilots have been caught out by this recently . They have been asked to explain why they were not acclimatised after leave, and are now awaiting sentencing . The funny thing is they were contacted after the trip, not in the days before .
Leave has been already restricted to only 30 days instead of the contracted 42 . With this new move, leave has been artificially reduced again .
The OMA use to state that a travel day off would be applied after leave . Oh how those days have disappeared .
This should help stem the flow of pilots leaving, and should be a great shot in the arm for recruiting . Great work DM and team .
Don, not trying to state the obvious, but the work around is to go sick If unacclimatised 3 nights before leave commences, remembering that one can only become “unacclimatised” when a “duty period” ends outside the 2hr band,
Beat the B’stards with their own rules.
BTW, it’s a visit to the clinic to certify, well worth it in my view, and it’s what sick leave is for.

Hey good my airline has gone bankrupt . I don't have a freaking job and salary coming ok. Emirates is my dream job. My wife has divorced me recently , she ran away with
her lover. So i really need this job . I have lots of A320 time and 3000 hrs jet time.

Accomodation

With the recent demise of the housing allowance, which accommodations are EK putting single Pilots in now?

don, you clearly have NO IDEA what you are talking about. Better shut up than post **** like that.
You are required to be acclimatised for ULR, being acclimatised means 3 local nights in a time zone within 2 hours.
So having 2 days off after leave exactly fulfills the requirement to be acclimatised.

AirbusChap, single intakes (from what I've just experienced) are being placed in Millenium, Tecom or Manazel.

g109,

You do seem like an excitable type . It would be three nights if you are boots on ground before midnight on your last day of leave . For most that means leaving their home country on their second last day of leave .
And that isn't ok .

And down in flames went 109 (just like most of the rest did)
g109, days off are just that..they are not for the company to use to their advantage, moreover the practise of rostering a ULR flight after leave is punitive in a predominantly expat airline...but won’t affect you in zee fatherland, so it’s ok then.

Applied for f0 position ek

hi guys!
I see so much bad to the company , yet have to see a good word about it . Really feel depressed after reading the whole discussion . Since 2016 and now end of 2018 only bad things about EK. I just made my mind and applied in EK a couple of days back . I was wondering as still the upgrade is 6-7yrs ? Since I have a lot of right seat hours and don’t feel like staying that long further in the right seat . I am 777 rated / current with almost 3000hrs .

Just a word of caution to all prospective new joiners - due to the stagnation of the fleet (and even reduction of net airframes on the 777) Commands are about to slowdown dramatically. So positions will only open counting on attrition - which is still quite high.

If you join either fleet (with around 1200 capt each at the moment) you're looking at around 60 command courses per year on your fleet. Join at the back of a 1200 list of FOs... and do your own maths!! Currently 7-8 year FOs are waiting for upgrades on 380.

Saving on FO salary is not easy or fun particularly if you have a family. To struggle with $$$$ I rather be home.

Just my 2c.

You really feel depressed about Emirates but you applied anyway? Wait until you get hired and see how depressed you become. 6000 miles from home, 3rd world culture, busting your ass at 100 hours a month and your money struggling to keep up.
Why don’t you get on with a US Major? They are far better in terms of.....EVERYTHING! Pay, days off, contract, insurance and even upgrades. You might have to wait 4-5 yrs there as opposed to here at 7-9 yrs.
When you get hired here and you will get hired you will Long to be at a Major.

Emirates issues

I applied because emirates looks amazing as a company . I used to hear that people got the upgrade in 3-4yrs , which professionally is supposed to be a big jump But I exactly couldn’t make out the problem with it till now ...I mean it’s the 100 hrs that bothers everyone ? In us major you know , one has to start from the lowest levels (regional ) which is a very difficult life and then slowly move up , no doubt after years you will be in a better shape but it’s the best for a guy who just starts his career rather than someone like me who already done so many hours and is almost 40yrs

Yes by all means come to Emirates and come quickly. We need you and you’re just the person the airline is looking for.
To be blunt you don’t sound like an American but you could have received the numerous Green Cards the government is handing out.
If you have plenty of hours already like you claim you don’t have to start at the Regionals. You can go straight to Delta or AA and upgrade in 3-5 yrs but Emirates is an amazing company. Come and experience it for yourself.

It’s not for lack of trying.
What’s more embarrassing is pilots staying here telling themselves and others that everything is great when any clear headed person knows how bad it is.

Well now I am just confused . You keep telling everyone that they need to just get a green card and they will be picked up by Delta etc, but you have been trying for ages and can't get a job? So your advice seems to be a bit off doesn't it? Misleading even. Good news is those traits should see you right for a management job with EK . See all is not lost.

Funny how some "assume" it a given to get on at the US majors. Know many that tried and failed , good guys as well . Maybe you need to be more nerdy
