If anybody of you guys reading here has an upcoming course start (within the next two weeks) and feels curious about what is going on right now, I thought it might be a good idea to start a whatsapp group to exchange some info about it. PM if you're interested to join in.

Emirates and medication
I'm not sure if this is the right place to type this but I'm hoping that someone might be able to help answer my question. What I'd like to know is if Emirates would hire candidates that take medication. I would go into more detail of I could PM someone, I don't want to share a lot of information. What I can say is that in everyday life I am a very healthy, 'normal' person and the medication I take isn't for anything related to mental health - I've heard they're really against that. The condition I take medication for was diagnosed many years ago and I haven't had any problems (hospitalisation)with it since 2013 so I think the main problem for Emirates is that I still take medication.

Your timing sucks USERNAME - I hate to the be the bearer of bad news, maybe you have missed it, but there is a Pandemic going around, and I think your meds may be the least of the issues preventing you being hired by EK.

I'm not applying yet but Emirates are still taking cabin crew applications with recruiters doing online screening interviews until it's safe to hold Assessment Days again. They're still planning on hiring a lot of crew before Expo 2020 as they won't have enough crew for the expected amount of passenger numbers in 2021 (Expo will be postponed).

They will be hiring thousands though, I don't know if you work for Emirates but I've heard this information from people within the company not spreading gossip but confirmed news about future recruitment. They need to balance out the number of resignations as well as expected increased passenger numbers for Expo 2020/2021. The reason I brought it up was that people are talking as if Emirates won't be hiring for years while they are still recruiting right now.

Sorry USERNAME - Would have helped in your initial post you said you were Cabin Crew, I mean this is a PILOTS forum. Either way though, I doubt they will be hiring ANYONE for some years to come. Good luck.

That's fine, you can think that but there are reliable sources saying they will be hiring cabin crew. Sorry for posting in a Pilots forum though haha, I saw cabin crew posts here before so I thought maybe it was okay.

Of course I am aware of what's going on in the world and it's horrendous. What I'm saying is that Emirates recruiters have still been doing digital interviews throughout this and screening candidates for future assessment days. They haven't stopped recruitment like other airlines have because they can afford to do that. The airline plans to have 70% of their flights operating again in May and the Expo will be going ahead next year so they need to keep recruiting otherwise they won't have enough cabin crew. And of course more people were resigning during the beginning of this pandemic while they had the chance to leave because they realised they'd rather be with their family than stuck in Dubai for an indefinite amount of time and others are resigning anyway.

UsernameGoesHere,
I'm not sure if you're trolling, but incidentally I seem to have alot more time on my hands now...so I'll bite.
I actually agree with what you're saying.
EK will need to hire cabin crew again....but your timeline might be a tad optimistic.
It's no surprise that online interviews are still occurring, as digital interviews are an effective and inexpensive way for management to keep a fresh and updated list of people who could be quickly called upon for further cabin crew recruitment stages if the need requires.
However, please note that we are all still sinking down the abyss at this stage. Borders are still shut, planes are still grounded; so apart from educated guessing....even Alice doesnt know how far down this rabbit hole goes.
Everyone is just playing a game of "wait and see" at this stage....so if you want to apply, give it a go....but just keep an open mind about how quickly or slowly your application may progress.
With regards to your medical query.....as this is a pilot forum, most of us are probably not very current with the medical requirements for cabin crew.
So I suggest you employ the search function of pprune to help you.
1. Type your medical condition into the search function....then try with the medication(s) you are taking. If anyone has posted anything with those names in the last 20 years on this website it should be viewable to you.
2. Google is your friend....type "cabin crew medical emirates" into google and see what comes up. Hopefully you will be able to find the type of medical required or medical requirements.
3. Armed with this info, go to the GCAA website and search for the medical requirements and/or exclusions for the type of medical clearance you require. It might take a while, but I know the Class 1 requirements are there....so info should be available for you also.
2-3hrs of research should hopefully answer your medical prerequisite concerns.
