So I sent in my application to EK last week. 5 days later I got an email inviting me to do the PSP in AMS in September. Does anyone here have an information on the PSP in AMS?
Also does anyone know any female pilots in EK? How do they get on there?
Thanks

I know a few and they got "here" the same way as everyone else did, they passed the selection process and are no different than any of us flying the line. Don't know why there would be a difference. A whole 5 days? Times must be desperate. Should be a clue to most.

V1cutz I was asking because I wanted to see if females are treated no differently (like my current airline) or if there's arrogant captains there who think girls should be in the kitchen not the flight deck

Just shows how desperate EK is now.. I had 6300 hrs with 4500 jet and I wasn't considered qualified enough 8 months ago.. Now they taking pilots with no jet experience.. Glad I didn't wait for them and got something else in the meantime.
Nothing against the posters above but I think that says something about how they are struggling to recruit...

In my opinion recruitment team is selecting by person specification rather than by job analysis. In this case the amount of experience and flight time are less considered for the benefit of other parameters like a particular personality. Off course within some limits, which is here in this case the ATPL.
It doesn't mean that a guy who has been rejected is not good enough technically or whatever, his profile just doesn't fit to what they are looking for.
After lowering the minimum requirements they now have increased the number of their potential candidates and it was what they were looking for.
Good luck anyway to those who have been pre selected!

I have been placed inside the shortlist pool, anybody knows what that means or what's next? I'm going in eyes tremendously wide open. I'll have a biscuit but hold off on the whole meal. TT5000 hours, 2500 medium jet.

"5 year contract is too long, whereas rest of the world offers 3."
In the U.S., virtually no airlines have contracts of any length, and no training bonds. If they tried to implement them, their applications would trickle to nothing.

Whats the 1st year salary like in the US Cliff? Each airline has their own way of protecting their investment. Either pay peanuts until costs are covered. Or pay a normal salary and bond.

@FlyGirlWorld Girls are treated the exact same as guys. No issues from what I've heard. You're treated with respect if you're a professional, competent pilot. There are captains from all over the world so there could always be one or two but that would be the case in any airline. They seem to put a fair amount of effort in the interview in determining whether you'd fit in with their culture and community so most seem to be fairly like minded people working here, despite the different backgrounds.

Delta, AA, Fedex, UPS and I think UAL all do not have"training pay"the first year...just regular high pay. 2nd year is six figures+. They used to have lower first year pay...not any more.
Cliff,
QOL will be far greater in your US airline, however, the high salaries are not starting in Year one. An ex work colleague started with Delta in Apr, and reckons he is bring in $4600 per month. Which is some $3600 per month less than the EK new joiner FO, and a lot less than he was making in the military. There is no arguing on who works harder for the money, but DELTA is clawing back the expense of hiring and training him. He says he should be cracking a bit over $8000 per month year two.
By Bond or pay, bean counters always get their pound of flesh. The $42000 and 5 years at EK is way over the top, but still they come.
