I just flew with a recruitment capitan, If you are not currently flying Boeing or Airbus they will not call you, if you are currently flying crj even if you have airbus or boeing experience you wont qualify unfortunately

May someone help me to understand this, please?
In the email for PSP 1 they say:
aptitude testing, advanced COMPASS testing, an abstract reasoning test, Sim 737 NG.
Referring to the Interview Preparation package of Latestpilotjobs, what is the Aptitude testing and Abstract reasoning?
I guess the first one is the ATPL questions, while the second is?

We are close to half of all the 380s being delivered at the moment. So new joiners would be looking at 2020 at least for an upgrade on the 380. It will soon be at the point where retirements etc will be needed for progression.

For those who believe or claim that ek does not hire Indians or Asians. Last batch who joined, 2 out of 9 are Indian. My maths is great, that's over 20% ! Also countries include Mexico , Hungary. Batch before was 1 Indian out of 10. That's 10%. Call EK what you want, but it is not racist in anyway regarding pilot hiring.

36 is not too old. I'm 42 and got an interview offer. I have heard 50 is too old. I think ek is right now cherry picking people who have Airbus or Boeing experience of which I have 1600 hours in the B767 with a current PC but it still took 2 years before I got the offer.

I applied over a year ago. I had 2500 hours on the Airbus, got an email to say I would be contacted shortly for interview. 6 months later, I pass 3000 hours Airbus time, minimum for direct entry onto the A380., so I updated my profile with these hours. Two days later I went from Shortlisted (capital letters) to unsuccessful.
Any ideas why this may have happened? If I didn't suit their criteria, could they not have told me a year ago.
I have reapplied since using a different email address, but that was 6 weeks ago and my application is still at the Under Review stage.
Yet they are crying out for applicants. I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

there is a roadshow here in 2 weeks time so i will ask them in person then what the real requirements
Any chance of asking when they will open up to NON Boeing or Airbus guys again? I would ask myself but am UK based and cant get to J'berg for their open day!
I am actually quite surprised they are still doing the open days!
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Flyer

Yeah, nothing positive for us 30< ton pilots out there.... That requirement still very much in force and they have in fact only taken Boeing and Airbus drivers lately, so 50ton plus... They also said they prefer airbus/Boeing at the moment because it makes the training cheaper/quicker.
They did say that that pool looks like it it starting to empty a bit though and the requirements might change next year....
So yeah, guess we will wait and see...

Thanks for the feedback Transport Jock. Hopefully will open up for us soon then.
Does anyone in the know happen to know if you have to be current on a Jet Type to be offered and assessment/job? In that you have well over the 2000hrs Jet they are asking for, and well over 4000 hours TT.
Thanks,
Flyer

I think they do want you to be current on jet. Another pilot who was with me there has something like 8500 total time with dc9 and crj2/7 time. He has however been on the q400 for the last 2 years, and the recruiter kinda gave him the look of, thx but no thx because he hasn't flown a jet for a while...

Seriously, anyone joining now is delusional. Joining years ago was like getting to bang the prom queen, you felt lucky. Joining now it's like banging that same chick 30 years later after she's been through a couple divorces, had a few kids, grown a beer gut, and lives in a van down by the river. If you're a Ryanair guy, maybe you are used to bangin trailer trash do she doesn't seem all that bad, but she ain't the beauty she used to be and cleaning up that hot mess will take list more than rehab and a flight bag.
The recruiters are ruffle dropping scam artists, don't believe the hype. It really is a well polished and perfumed turd.
