...however 777 cmd slots are only being offered to 777 FOs?
To reduce training costs, I expect.
A simple solution to a vexing problem.

In addition, having the first airplane on which a command is offered...being a junior fleet...is nothing new.
TWA did this many years ago.
No matter how senior you were, the first command had to be on the 727...no exceptions.
After two years, a bid to a more senior airplane was allowed

exactly.... since Etihad came up with this hare-brained idea that all upgardes will be on 330, the whole system crashed to bits. Idiocy.

If a new upgrade captain can't be trusted with a cadet, then he shouldn't be in the left hand seat, in any airline. Either you are up to the job, with ANY FO, or you are not.

And anyone who wants a command in Etihad, had better get used to the idea of flying the 320, or just enjoy life in RHS forever.

The way the resignations are going, I dont think anyone in EY is immune from finding a 320 course on their next roster........ You watch!

Perhaps RH should be next?

p.s. 411A .... EY commands arent on 320, but 330, for 500hrs, then CCQ back.

upgrades

Goeasy,

I dont think the issue is about whether a new upgrade can handle a cadet. (For the record, by the time they are signed out on line, they are no longer cadets.)

I think the issue is rather about experience levels. There have been some high profile accidents in the past, where pairing 2 inexperienced crew were cited as contributing factors. ( Potomac accident and GF 072 spring to mind) I would think that there are insurance issues here as well as rostering difficulties. (However, with a decent rostering system, this should be taken care of.)

I think the better option would be to upgrade on the A320 and put the Second officers on the A340 as in flight relief for a year or so to give them exposure to the operation, before they gotta worry about flying the Bus.

But what do I know anyway??

Sir O

It will hapen again, just like inexperienced Capts and FOs illegally flying together or A330/340 pilots having to advise crew control that their assigned flight is illegal as they do NOT fly A320.....OOOPS!

Hi guys,

When were B777 commands announced.

Unless there were big numbers announced I'm guessing all slots would go to the guys who have been waiting on the B777 for years.

Has something changed cross fleet commands have occurred in the past no reason not to continue.
