RAK and DANA

Both need to hire knowledgeable managers who know aviation, who have experience of the business, and can replace the CEO, and COO of both operations.

The problem is still that the CEO will not stop day to day management. A CEO should stand back, and ensure the company is well funded, to think of the 10 year plan, and motivate his senior managers to work together.

As long as the present CEO has the responsability of this post then there will be no development.
Promote the CEO to President, and hire a good man, or woman, and let the manage.

It's sad to see how these guys managed to disrupt or even ruin the lives of so many. Very sad.

Harry Potty

Riakar,

I like the idea of a book about Rak Airways; I think a lot of people could contribute a lot of interesting, funny and sad anecdotes to this work of ‘real life fiction’.

I myself learned a lot from my experiences there.

Aspiring airlines could learn a lot from it too, existing airlines would get a good laugh from it and students of aviation would get a great insight into how NOT to start an airline.

It should be called Harry Potty and the Goblet of

JK Rowling would have been hard pressed to create these characters. Here are just a few of them…The Emperor/Sheikh/King, whatever. The megalomaniac toilet mogul, the pakistanian title junky who held several directorships, his mini me and his minnier me, the idiot formerly know as one of their many CEO’s who hired his ‘just out of her teens’ girlfriend, the Travel agent who bought an aircraft without seeing it. The super sexy Iranians (personally I liked them). The pilots who rarely flew (great guys) the 2 ‘real’ Hawker boys who were dead ringers for Tattoo and Mr. Roarke from ‘Fantasy Island’
The Keralan Nigel Mansells that could go from RKT – DXB in 30mins, the tea-boy who made the tea n coffee with camel’s milk, all 73 flight ops directors, the multiple paint job 757, the Ilyushin crews who loaded up their 76’s with cases of Johnny Black for ballast, the Norwegian beer monkeys, the Chinese cannibals and one ‘sound as a Scottish pound’ Scotsman. Put them all living in the same hotel and what an adventure!

If you told someone they wouldn’t believe you!

Hustle on…

Re Harry Potty

To SJH - Mate, completely agree with you on the Iranian contingent - only thing worth getting up for in the morning if you know what I mean. Apart from the barely legal CEO girlfriend and maybe one of the flippers on reception... You couldn't have been there for long after the Iranian femmes fatale joined unless my memory is getting hazy in my old age. That is before you were fired so your salary could be added to the Norwegian VPFOs who did nothing except run his own business while he was there. Maybe you and I should put our heads together on that book - drop me a note. Cheers

Air Arabia subbed in? Am surprised that a Lo-Co had spare capacity to fly for someone else expecially in the summer season.

So there are 2 757's basking in the sun on the RKT ramp or what?

Those guys in RAK deserve a break...

Has there been a quiet casualty in RAK Airways Management? Not very much noticeable though, but the VP Finance is gone from the Management page. Now it's just the boss, his EVP and the VP Airline Operation and Head of Flight Training. http://rakairways.com/Rakairways/cms...essionlangue=2

RAK Update

more head has rolled, yes the girls are out of Taliban terrace and into Taliban HQ.
Yes there was some immoral behavious, but well below the normal for the UAE.
yes, I have been into the HQ, and the rooms are very nice, and yes it does resemble a prison, and yes they have no freedom. I was talking to two of the girls yesterday, and the new pay package, and the lure of nights away, with the per diem being raised, have given them a new incentive.
yes, the apron is full of junk, and yes they outsource most of the flying.

Never mind winter is coming.
