BMI Saudi Flights

So what's the real story?

In June BMI announced they were increasing schedules to Saudi, plenty of fanfare and comments from Nigel Turner about "increased services" and "improvements to our schedules".

Now the detail is out it appears to be little more than re-routing the direct flights to Jeddah via Riyadh in both directions. So where exactly is the "improvement".

More likely this is part of a wider cost cutting/rationalisation exercise, with less than 50 on Thursday's JED flight the numbers can't be adding up.

You cant just look at one flight and make such an assumption, the weekend prior to last ALL flights into Saudi were packed due to returning vacationers coming back after the EID holidays, due to the closure of the Saudi embassies for these same holidays, no business visas were issued, so you will always see limited passenger loads during this time!

Now if their flights are empty in December, than you can say that things arent adding up

Bmi Fleet

Have you seen the bmi fleet parked here at LHR? The destination should be Woolworths not Saudia what a pick and mix its a shame to see a once great airline finish up like this. Still Nigel and Tim but dim will waltz off with a few million each in the coming months. Never thought the Knight of the Realm would let it finish up like this. Sad to see

True, one family that I work with have been told their JED-LHR flights on 5th Dec have been changed to 8th Dec as BMI wants to use the flight for Hajj purposes. This having originally booked on 8th and changed it.

They are now trying to get back the SR2000 that BMI charged when they brought forward the flight from 8th to 5th.

Most people that I work with now recognize that with the extra ground time it's just as quick to go via Dubai and use EK who have a much better range of flights to UK.
