Dear Saudi Sky,

I thought that I too would join in this debate and add my thoughts to your it.

I agree at NAS we are all qualified pilots, .... BUT there is a massive difference in what level they are at. The management restricted pilots to certain destinations due to this; As a classic example I have asked many FO’s what are the basic limits for the anti-ice and they cannot give me the answer! In the monsoon many do not even understand what the weather radar is telling them and how to interpret it. May I remind you that it was not that long ago when 2 Saudi Capt flying together had a double bleed failure brought on by their lack of knowledge of OEB’s and the aircraft systems. How can you expect these pilots to SAFELY fly in these conditions.

You say we are only in Saudi because were not paying Tax. ... You are correct that many of us do not pay Tax, but if you actually read different countries agreement some do. I must remind you that you as a Saudi do not pay Tax either so your argument is somewhat dumbfounded and very one sided. Many ex Saudia Capts are here only for money as they receive a pension from Saudia and their NAS salary, so maybe they are also here for money and not just the love of NAS as you portray.

You racist comment about complaining about Muslims and Religion I found quite outstanding. In my country we will have places of worship for Catholic’s, Jews, Muslims and whatever religion you wish next to each other the same street, I do not see any of that in Saudi. We do not fly past the Sate of Israel sticking our fingers up and gesticulting at them every time we fly to Beirut, unlike some.
We all came to Saudi open minded and I have the greatest respect for the Muslim religion, but then I don’t understand why the bridge to Bahrain is full every Wednesday evening. Every religion has those at different ends of its specrum and we respect that.

As for sick time, I think you’ll find (until recently) Flying Ginger was on a contract where it did not matter how many or few hours he flew. He turned up for work everytime, on time and did not do sick out of Professionalism and with respect for his work colleagues who he knew would have to cover his duties at short notice if he did not. You attitude that he is mad is not really one of the ‘company man’ you portray. Taking ‘sick days’ whenever you feel like it not only is totally unprofessional, shows complete lack of respect for your colleagues but is something that should be weeded out of the company.

We have some at NAS that think this is a Private Flying club, turning up whenever they want (quite often after the passengers), but you know they are coming at you can hear their spurs clanging on their suede booties. On with their glove(s) and away we go. !!

This company is not Saudia, cannot afford to lose millions of SAR every quarter, we are a commercial company and if we can’t make money we lose our jobs, expats & Saudi’s.

And then of course there are may Professional Pilots, of which NAS has many expat & Saudi alike,

BUT your are not one of them!

Negative Vibe

The remarks of "Saudi Sky" only represent himself and not all Saudis in the company. The company relies on both Saudis and Expats and there is a nice team spirit with 90% of the guys. There are also expats among our group who are also at fault and are the (equal) or more to "Saudi Sky" in terms of spirit. I hope this minority on both sides does not spread this negative vibe that does not help the company. As profissional lets keep our dirty laundry in-house. We owe it to the company!

Unhappy i dont hide

to whatisnew........ I agree with you not all Saudis like that

to Fly Ginger....... Saudi pilots don't only fly Jed ruh Jed that shows you don't know any thing and its a shame

to..saudi sky....... every one is welcome in our country as long they work with others in respect
so I disagree with you

to FlyingOrange ..............you are a peace of work I will explain things to you hopping you will understand
FIRST our country policy that we don't recognize the state of Israel so don't involve your self in OUR country policy's
SECOND.saudia is the heart of Islam that's why we don't have churches
like the Vatican they don't have mosques so please think first !!!
THIRD .am one who got sick a lot and its none of any one business because pilots are different than any other job
to explain to you maybe you will understand
if we have flue we don't fly but other job can still do the job
I hope you get it
FORTH. it shows that you are the racist by identifying the nationality of the guys who did the bleed mistake!!
every one in aviation did mistake unless you are superman and I know you are not.
I think I know you... u did SANA'A qualification with me and you slept have of the flight in the jump seat
so don't talk about profession
SIXTH when the last SAUDI DFO AND DFT got out allot of ex made fun of it so I can understand Saudi sky point
SEVENTH when you made fun of the F O who don't know about the radar its simple they just started so they need all inputs from Capt.
not to make a muck out of them
am new in pprune but from what I see am not proud to continue
so I hope every one will stop this and go along together
all the best for you Saudi or not FO or Capt.

Flying orange stop bitching

Dear flying orange ,
I know who you are just by the negative attitude you have in all your posts .
I went through all your posts , and i could not find one post positive about Nasair.
So why are you still there ?! . who the hell do you think you are ? .
You should be grateful to wear Nasair uniform , and if you don't like it or you think you are to good to be in Nasair , then get the hell out !!
And we will all pray to God to help the company overcome the lose of your great input , I suggest that you eat your tongue or fingers I should say before you reply to this , coz remember !! , know who you are !! .

Angry Nas Cost Cutting!!

No more crew meals, water, coffee, and no parking permits payed by company. What's next!! It seems that every new manager that comes in, the pilot group pays and pays!!!! but the problem is that we change management every 3 months so by the end of the year we need to pay Nas for letting us fly the Airbus.

NAS

I do Agree with Sir. Munir.

Add also that during training they can kept you in SA for at least 8 months doing NOTHING , i mean you spend 2 months between sim and ground school and that’s it , wait in the compound like a prisoner for your IOE schedule or GACA checkride

and forget about requesting to go home for at least one week because the close mind chief pilot would not let you go to your home.!!!!!

They think here that they own you!!!

Plus maintenance is totally a pirates work, no stock spares, this airlines doesn't have a hangar, AC's landing on emergency due to smoke on cockpit, engines damaged, AC with recurrent MEL etc....

so believe me , coming here for that money and working conditions, after my experience here it doesn’t worth it ! ! !

I think 4 pilots already gone since the new rules, and there will be more surprises for the management...

se yaaa

NAS Promises

Guys thanks very much for your input here.
It is really much appreciated. Maybe time to reconsider.
Cheers for now and lets hope that things improve. Really getting fed up being treated like second class citizen.
Time to roll the dice again.

Not worth it anymore with the salary they pay you now. If you fly less than 50 hrs a month you cannot take home more than $8000.00 after paying expences(housing and car). That is if your on the 6/3 contract. More money elsewhere for sure for cpts.

Re--NAS Promises!

Buswind,
Thanks for this as it helps me to build up the true and proper picture??
I take it that you are only flying 50 odd hours a month then??? No use to me I am afraid!
Better off going elsewhere.
Cheers and thanks again to everyone for all your input as I know that some of my friends are also watching this forum in the background.
It's good for us all.

Re---

How much do you think that housing and a car or transport will cost per month.
Sorry to ask such basic questions. On the 6/3 they are giving a housing /transport allowance. Is this not enough to cover the costs.?? Never know who is watching the forums but I am sure that you know how much I am tallking about.
Cheers

Captain's monthly salary & benefits:
6/3: basic pay SAR 30,000 + SAR 8,333 housing allowance (if you opt not to live at the NAS compound) + SAR 800 transportation
full-time: same as above + SAR 2,500 education allowance + SAR 2,500 travel allowance

Housing expenses: it really depends on your needs, but it goes from a min of SAR 30,000/year, to SAR 150,000/year (or more). An apartment at a decent compond will cost about SAR 50-70,000/year....very hard to find availability, though.
Transportation expenses: if you buy a used car (very cheap over here), the transportation allowance will more than cover the expenses (but do you really want to drive here?). If you hire a driver it'll cost you about SAR 2000/month, provided that you have your own vehicle. If you opt for a taxi, it'll cost you about SAR 1000/month (depending on where you live).
Then all the extras for the pub, movie theatre, taking the girl out to dinner, etc.

Re__ NAS

Thanks for that Elporco. I have most of the details already but just wondered about the "Real" cost of things.
Loved the extras but sure they would cost more than my salary!!

Yes, the company is cutting costs. It needs to. These cuts cover all areas of the business and pilots are by no means the only affected population. Regarding crew meals; who wanted them, they were never eaten, and they cost the company a fortune. But in typical fashion, take something away and all hell breaks loose. The fact that people have resigned over this issue is simply amazing. Why did you leave your last company? They made me use the allowance to pay for food.

The truth..

Crews will be paid an allowance that has been benchmarked against our competition (who for a long time have removed crew meals). It can be used to purchase food from the in-flight shop, airport kiosk etc etc

Tea/Coffee/Water will still be provided free of charge. There were a few days where supplies didn't reach the aircraft. I think this is now fixed.

To address Cpt Munir's comments, he's resigned from the company so don't expect anything he says to be positive. Duty hours Max? The average in the high season is 60 block hours. That's hardly max.

Anyone who wants to join you are welcome, and I'm confident you'll find there are numerous positives at nas. Anyone, who works with us and doesn't like it, address your concerns properly so we at least know the issues and can consider them.

Anyone who wants to grandstand, make yourself known, and rest assured, you'll be quickly shown to the door!
