If you're off on the 30th take life easy, stay at home and put your feet up because you deserve your days off.

Your can read on the portal, or even here! how little you're going to get, you really won't be missing anything at all.

It won't change things by being there, and the buffet really is no better than what your wife can knock up for lunch, as you well know in emirates, if it's free it's going to be crap!!!

I think Thylakoid is correct in how the profit share is calculated. However, as we get more employees we should make more profit so the profit share shouldn't go down because of that.

However, I think it is all just smoke and mirrors anyway and it will be "adjusted" by the bean counters to as little as they feel they can get away with without mass resignations.

How does 5 weeks sound?

I personally think it will be 12 weeks (a big one) and then the end of profit share/bonus. Rumours are that we will be given shares in the company.

12 weeks sounds right. 10% pay rise, maybe less. All other perks will get official inflation( one third of reality).

11 weeks, 7%+3% on basic, variable pay doubled... the usual 'well informed' say.

6 weeks and no payrise , maybe a reduction in flight pay. The aviation boom cycle is always very short.

SQ gives nice big profit share because they pay it on your basic pay, like EK.
However your base pay at SQ is a lot lower than our base pay. You make your extras from your flying pay which is a lot higher than ours.

I would think that SQs 28 weeks is equavalent to us getting 14 weeks. Maybe not precise but close.

Not even close.
If you take their basic s$9300/mo = s$2325/wk 2325X28=s$65100 s$65100x.75= USD$48825 (with 10% taxes then $43942)

30,700AED basic for yr one or two B777 capt per month
30,700AED/mo=7675/wk 7675AEDx14=107450AED
107450AED/3.69=USD$29120

Easier way to work it is their US dollar amount per week is $1743.
Ek dollar amount per week using 3.69 is $2079.

They make about 16% less on the basic...but, they get paid 13 mo's plus last year 24 weeks which nets 28 weeks. But they do pay a 10% tax.

Scary stuff to put one's limited math skills on display. So if I made any glaring mistakes, blame it on too much sun and sand in my eyes...

Posted on another site on PPrune....

B777 Captain: in S$ per month

Basic: $9300
MVC (Monthly Variable Component) : $767
AVC (Annual Variable Component): $767 x 1.15 (paid lumpsum in June for whole year)
Meal Allowances: $2000 (on average, including in-flight & overnight allowances, incl 6 weeks leave, tax-free)
PPA (productivity allowance): $4000 (on average, incl 6 weeks leave)
Transport: $120
Bonus: Between 3 to 6 months of (basic+MVC+AVC)...simplified explanation
13th month "Bonus": 1 month (basic+MVC+AVC)

Income Tax (approx): $2500 (locals), $3500 (expats)

For expats:

Housing: $ 3200 (adjustable, barely, $3100-$3500)
Schooling: $1400 per child for 2 children
Gratuity: $10,000 per year (on completion of contract)
Joining Bonus: Upto $30,000 possible

SI (Service Increment) for every year of service: Approx 3% of basic, incorporated into basic. This year may be more, as inflation has touched 6.6% versus an average of 2-3% over the past 15-20 years.

Lots of other variables like housing etc. but we're just talking cash....
