EY VPO 'acting' wrong

ok I am not a professional in management however the way not to piss up everybody seems easy to me:
You ve got lets say 15 captain positions coming: lets say 5 on 330 and 10 on 320;just open the position to all FO;
Some guys will say ok i want a 330 position but if i am not scheduled for it within 6 months i take the 320 now (and it s your decision and your responsibility not to take your upgrade now!!)
Some guys who don t have the seniority will say i am interested to join 320 NOW;
Than you make a list based on SENOIRITY (not nationality ) and wish; than FO who want to get a upgrade on 330 (because they ve got a good chance within 6 months) are willing to delay their upgrade and guys who according to seniority would get a upgrade lets say in 10months get a early upgrade because they WANT it....everybody is happy and you will crew your 320 quicker than expected but might be too simple!!!
U ve got loads of good FO with thousands of hours on 320 and maturity (kiwis ) or 330 who would apply NOW!!

Being the new VPO or somebody else, this would start eventually with the narrow body arrivals, unless there were (crew) staffing needs to join directly onto heavier acft. It happens in most companies and it makes sense.

I stand with Sandblasted. Better to keep the upgrades going and in the current order of seniority system, than get in DEC. Who knows, they might even lower the upgrade hours because it is an A320, which would mean a few of those ex-Flight Engineers's can get to the left seat now. They wouldn't mind at all. So as you see, it could be beneficial for all, so long as the DEC stop, the the upgrades keep moving.
Just look around and see how many A320 airline have closed it's doors in the USA. This mornings news shows Frontier Airlines has just filed for bankruptcy. You know what this would mean!

Perhaps they are thinking of using the Airbus Cross Crew Qualification and Mixed Fleet Flying provisions to crew the A320 by A330 Captains in the interim period until they get the recruitment/upgrade numbers sorted out for the A320.
This would also protect against having New Captains (upgrades/DEC) and New FOs (Cadets/New Recruits) being rostered on the same flights.
Alternatively having an A330 FO upgrade via a A320 command wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing provided the path to A330 Command is short. It is also good for new command upgrades to hone those command skills on regional sectors.
Ultimately it would be more preferable to have promotions within the group than the DEC option.
This would also protect against having New Captains (upgrades/DEC) and New FOs (Cadets/New Recruits) being rostered on the same flights.

That s another question to ask during the meeting with James Hoogan.
It s quite clear that EY has to consider to attract pilots on 320s . Priority in this company is the upgrade and not DEC. And that s one of the good thing about EY!!!
So now it s quite obvious as well that some F/Os want to be upgrade on 330 others on 320.
I think the best is to lower the minima on the 320 to allow some young F/O to get their command on the small bus.
The problem of the cadets is different. Lufthansa or Air France cadets are not pointed by their captains because they are new...They are usually very good even without experience, the problem of cadets is part of the training capacity to raise their level to a high one.

Listen guys you are not going to get any logical or fair solution from anyone in EY....they need to fill seats and they will do whatever they want to fill them.....the people already in the company will get no favours or priority!!...they will opt for the easiest quick fix...just like they always do.

The problem is that the owners refuse to see or admit they have put a total bafoon in charge of their airline....if they got rid of Hogan and put a real CEO in place the rest of the useless toss##s would be kicked out very quickly.
The levels of incompetence shown in EY would never happen in any other airline.
Only then can we expect to see solutions to problems like Commands etc.

All ican say lads is... SHOULD A DECISION SAY FOR 15-20 A330 SKIPPERS ARE SUMMONED TO THE A320, POINT BLANK REFUSE, HAND-IN A MASS RESIGNATION!!
