Just as Nik says, a fantastic friend, and always a reliable and steadying influence in situations which often seemed like mayhem. A huge loss for the industry, and of course for Adrie and the family. Sleep well old friend, you'll never know how much we will all miss you. I just hope there's no broccolli in heaven, or the caterers will never hear the end of it!

Absolute agreement about the broccoli...
Potatoes will do roasted, pan fried or even baked.
A great man, a great friend and straight as an arrow in an industry where most are bent and fattuous.
Rest in peace Rinus!
I know that you would laugh if you read this!

Although a sad day, Rinus’s funeral was a very special day. Many friends from Gulf Air and KLM came to saying goodbye to a dear friend.
Many people described Rinus as we knew and loved him, but no one more so than Steve Wilson from Gulf Air.
There was lot’s of music that brought both tears and laughter to many and fond memories of Rinus singing at the top of his voice in the office.
On saying goodbye to Jack Rinus’s son, he said: “ we shared a few beers and shed a few tears, just the way he would of wanted it.”
That was Rinus talking!
A nice way to say goodbye to a dear friend.

To Rinus
Rinus,
You and I never got along, never saw eye to eye on pretty much anything. But at the end of everything we both had respect for each other because we both stood our ground and never backed down. I will miss our run in's together and I hope you are upstairs taking a well deserved rest. Right now I am having a triple Famous Grouse in your honour. Oh hell, I will probably have 2 or 3 triples in your honour. When the day comes and I am standing in line a the Pearly Gates, I am pretty sure that I will not be seeing St Pete standing there. I will be seeing you there as Head Of Security making sure everything is running smoothly, and have made all the angles wear I.D. cards. I'm sure you will even make God himself wear an I.D. card as well, you know for security.....
Until then rest well, YOU WILL BE MISSED!!
Always undersiege....

Reeeeyynus?
The trumpet never worked, and I could never master it even though I had a laugh trying after a few drinks to many with Adrie in the corridor.
I will miss the coffee mornings and the cigarette in your office and the always wise and kind advice you gave me, like I was your son.
Dinners at lanterns and the odd trip for a "haircut" at the Sherlocks and best the cooking sessions at your home and the barbeques by the pool.
I could not make it this Thursday as much as I would have loved to see Adrie, Jack and Andrea, and little Thomas you were so proud of, to share with them the pain of this loss.
Can someone pour the man a beer and make sure it has 2 fingers of foam please!
Take care!
