This airline is a total waste of time, never keeps to its promises and the only one known to employ the most ineffective and incompetent people.

Whether planning is ou on time or not is not the issue, nothing is clear in this outfit and these Bahrainis take the cookie for laziness and corruption. I would not even spare the expats in this regard, theya re the same caliber overall. Cheap, distastefull and lazy.

You poor thing, Al Fakhem Snr.. After reading your posts for the last few months I draw the conclusion that you must be living an extremely wretched, miserable life. Why haven't you moved on? Life is to short to be frittered away in the ways you describe.

Gulf Air

I am not an airline specialist but I could say Gulf Air produced us a little improvement and proved enormous credibility to date. From assigning Kroll forensic auditors (UK-based) to comb the financial books and arresting staff with fraud history, re-engineering its flight networks, hiring competent people in HR, legal and technical areas followed by buying new aircrafts are excellent and worth-praising actions. All makes me believe Gulf Air has a promising future.

Ex-managements made Gulf Air struggles by their wide-scale corruption. All problems could have been avoided if there were transparent management and robust corporate governance like current one. Gulf Air is now propped up by one owner, Bahrain, and I doubt the latter want to spend public money without getting a return on its investment.

It is nonsense to compare Gulf Air with Etihad & Emirates – the latter 2 airlines do not operate on commercial ground but count on a complete range of monopoly policies and 100% government support on everything (if you travel to Dubai, you will not get an airport entry-visa – except if you are diplomatic, doctor, banker, ..etc . then certainly, most people would be obliged to travel on Emirates !!)

To conclude, the Crown Prince is the key momentum behind recent changes at Gulf Air.

I must say I wholeheartedly agree with shazar. GF is certainly heading in the right direction.
As for you, Al Fakhem Snr, you must have grudges from bygone days to continue your bitter attack on efforts by a precious few in trying to turn GF around. May I suggest you spend all that negative energy in being productive and not destructive hmmm?

Have they got all of the crooks yet? I'm absolute sure there are more in there.

More difficult to get to profit (if that is the plan) without a clean nest.

Tut tut, no grudges mate, just noticiing the same useless faces still here, with the history of corruption to match.

Grudges? I wonder if they have grudges that some of us are still here.

Opinion

Al Fakherm Snr, sorry if my point of view is misunderstood. But being an HR professional with many years working across banks, logistics and manufacturing, I could confirm that HR is always under criticism everywhere, and you can’t please everyone. The personnel appointed in HR and Legal were just hired mid of November 2007, which is less than 3 months to date. Therefore, reforms will take long time to surface up and financial performance is the indicator. (Now GF talks about substantial reduction in daily losses)

I can understand your frustration, which always happen when a new management comes by anywhere. But be mindful, you should not shift the blame to new people. Corruption is a wide scale problem including in neighbouring airlines but the incredible financial support and operational monopoly tools made the difference, as stated earlier. (This reminds me of current European criticism to GCC States-owned investment funds)

At top of Emirates, the director of civil aviation department is himself Emirates Chairman is himself Dubai Airport Manager! What a nice structure! It makes life so simple for Emirates that anyone can observe that in the produced policies & laws. In Etihad, the sub-zero people management skills and poor working culture are the toast of the hour! that everyone talk about second GF. Moreover, it has dominance of one major nationality – Australian! (This was the same in GF few years ago; PLEASE I have nothing against any nationality but wonder if the airline is a commercial or charity organisation!) In a nutshell, no diversity or corporate culture there!

Shazar, your post makes a lot fo sense.

However no one said Emirates was a reference and we know for fact EY isn't.

This should not entail that GF is right because it has other atributes. Only when thes are taken into account for what they mean to the organisation will it significantly make a difference.

At the moment, there is no direction or little. Same people running the show, be it the shiite secretaries and the tea boys trailing; thier suppport in the company is far and deep to the detriment of its well being.

So be it GF is doing it different from all the others, but such attributes only justify that the caliber of employees and management hired to make a change, poor to match theirs.

Little minds, little things and poor results.

At Gulf Air "WE" nothing!

Capt Faecal:

GF is history, its dismanteling will come surely and securely thanks to you and your brethern. It is only a matter of time, and thanks to you it now proving unsolvable.

All GF will serve to do is again serve the interests of EK, EY and QR by driving the market of aviaiton leasing up when it's own fleet becomes too old to fly.

I'll come look for you in HQ to give you the dinar for the bacha.

For now close your trap, you've already compromised our future too much.
