In Post 9182 0n June 5th you said "This will be over by next week".

Have lived and worked in the region for 14 years may I be so bold as to say you are Naive in the extreme.

In this region FACE is Everything. Settle in for the long haul.

Qatar has confirmed 20 orders for the 737 MAX 8 today at Le Bourget.

PARIS: Qatar firms 737 Max order, finalising Leap A321neo deal

19 JUNE, 2017
Qatar Airways has firmed up its order for Boeing 737 Max aircraft and is close to finalising a deal for CFM International Leap-1A-powered Airbus A321neos.

The airline's chief executive Akbar Al Baker disclosed at the Paris air show today that he had finalised an agreement for 20 737 Max 8s first announced last October, along with 40 options and purchase rights. "We will take three or four from June next year. The first Maxes will be delivered in small numbers and will replace older A320s that are going out of service from our mainline fleet."
The 737 deal was agreed last year amid the fallout from Qatar's dispute over its Pratt & Whitney A320neo order, which the airline has walked away from following ongoing technical issues with the PW1100G engine.
Al Baker says negotiations over the restructuring of the order continue. "I think we will conclude soon."
He is close to finalising the acquisition of "a very limited number of" A321neos, powered by the rival Leap-1A engine. "We will get the A321neos from the third quarter of next year," says Al Baker. "We still have some loose ends to finalise with Airbus before we sign with Airbus for the Leap [version]."
Meanwhile, Al Baker says he now expects Qatar's first A350-1000 to be delivered in December this year. It had previously been due to arrive around now.

Lepo et al

As I, and many others that have lived and worked in the ME for any length of time have said ad nauseum. FACE or SAVING FACE or WILLY WAVING or Mine is bigger than yours is far more important than truth and reality. IMHO and that of many, many people, the main man in QATAR Airways is the epitome of small man syndrome.

Fantasy or reality

Politics aside, has QR actually ever made a real profit ? I mean outside the realm of fantasy numbers .. genuine question .

Online test is divided in 3 tests
Critical thinking
Reasoning
And personality test
The first two you have to do them at once
The personality you can do it later
Good luck

Me neither. Tests much harder than the practice questions!

Just wondered if you could tell me how is it working as husband and wife pilot couple at QR.

There seems to be no info on the net about this whatsoever. There are a few things we’d be interested to find out about before applying…

Do they do married matched rosters so you can share the same days off?

Would both of you be paid the utilities allowance or would QR say that only one person per couple was entitled to it?

Would there be the option for one pilot to take the company accommodation and the other to be paid the utilities allowance?

It would be great to hear from any other pilot couples already working for QR.

We are keen to find out if the lifestyle is any good and more importantly if you ever manage to see each other!

I know several couples flying here. You only get one housing allowance and they don't go out of their way to match your schedules.

I agree. At least the first part of it was a little different.
Wish you luck.

The Skype interview is not a big deal. It's just a chat with English native speaker to recognize level of English. ICAO 4 is usually good enough.

Expect small talk about your CV and aviation background

Don't know any couple personally but surely concerning time off, you would just sit down and plan your time off together.

Roster and Leave is all done on bidding... if you were asking from the perspective of whether married couples would get preferential treatment then I would guess probably not.

Invitation date still valid?

For those who have been invited to Doha, is the invitation still valid? Anyone lately attended Doha for recruitment phases? How is the situation lately in the company, could you inform?

Thanks in advance!

The EASA material is the ball ache I'm going through. How I've managed to fly around in a 737 for years without knowing half, of it is beyond me........
