Commuting is but a dream. You're wife on the other hand seems to have common sense.

You can not commute to Europe with Qatar successfully.
This is NOT a commuting job.

Everyone I know who tried became miserable and angry, it doesn't work.

Hi guys,

How is it looking in QR for a whole bunch of FOs from EK with around 2700h on 380 and around 4500 airbus time? As you might know from another topic we are being shafted over age. What are the requirements to upgrade and how long is ot looking at? Possibilities of fleets?

Thanks a lot!

How are the layovers at QR? I hear that most of the Emirates ones are only 24 hours. Are there a lot of 48 and 72 hour layovers. Obviously, I am talking 777 here mostly.

ULR's are 48. In the Summer that is LAX and IAH, in the Winter it also includes MIA and DFW. YUL is 48 or 72 once a week. Other patterns exist due to freighter ops or changes in scheduling. Ended up with 48 off in LHR last month.

Regards,

GBD

Hi guys, couple of questions...

1)How do command upgrades work on the bus fleet? Do you go RHS 320/330/350/380 then start LHS on the 320 again? Do you get employed on a type and keep the type till command?

2)Do people change fleet internally if there are slots (airbus to Boeing , 330 to 350 etc) or this is a no no unless basically drafted to the fleet as per FOP needs?

No Airbus to Boeing or vice versa. More movement on Bus fleet 320-> 330/350. Boeing guys tend to stay on fleet although some lower time FOs are being promoted to Skipper on 787 from T7, and some higher time 787 FOs being promoted to skipper onto T7 after 3 months on line (just flew with one recently).

I've received the approval email within a week after sim. But went to the talent pool, then no idea how long will it take to get a DOJ.

Currently it is seniority deciding time to upgrade and not how many hours you have, so any EK FO thinking he can come and get a quick upgrade, may be disappointed.

So with your logic, a cadet with 200 hours joins before and an FO with more then 5000 hours will have to wait untill the cadet gets his turn for upgrading?

Dont think so habibi.

I think Qatar at the moment will upgrade anyone in the workforce that is eligible ( time in company and required hours )

No. They are upgrading people now who fullfil the requirements laid out in the OM-A and who passes the process. There are plenty who fullfil the requirement, but do not have the seniority to be next in line. Should they eventually one day run out of people with enough hours, they would most likely jump to the next one, if one does not have the hours.

Akrep,

Anyone who joins QR will have 5 years worth of eligible candidates ahead of them for upgrade. Experience only counts for the upgrade once the seniority does.

520.

Can any one give me an idea about the second officer A 320 line training.
And how long does it take usually to finish?
