FMS Speed

Good question, I would also like to know.

Seems the EK are also only interested in Boeing or Bus rated people as well.

Hours

I currently have 450 hrs on A330, on the minimum requirements theres no specification of more than 500 hours, while looking over the aplication online it asks if I have 500 hours, does anyone know if it would be a problem to be called if I apply being short 50 hours? Ill have the 50 hours by mid December. Thank you for your replies.

The requirement is type rating on the big bus, I don't understand y u seem so confused about it....min 500hrs is for a captain on type and since ur a FO it doesn't matter as long as your current

Well, it seems the aviation authority in Qatar does require you to have 500 hours on type in order to convert it back to a Qatari license, that's what've been told..that's why Qatar asks for it ..

Strange, I had a friend join there a couple of years back without a Boeing rating, have things changed recently?

I'm guessing that things change quite a lot overthere.

Is it easy to convert the qatari license back to an easa one? Or is it best to keep the JAR/EASA one current?

It changes on a regular basis. Policies change regularly, recruitment staff come and go.
What you read on the website regarding requirements should be taken with a pinch of salt. I know a guy who got employed here on the A320 and he had a King Air rating!

If you don't have 500hrs on type they'll make you do the type rating all over again after you join.

Yes.

Keep your EASA license current. Transferring a type rating from Qatar to EASA depends on various factors including whether you are P1, P2 and how many hours you have. I have a friend who did it, but he had to go through a huge amount of bureaucracy and faffing around at the UK CAA to get it sorted out.

Tinker

So are you saying it is worth applying if one has in excess of the hours requirement but not a Boeing rating (obviously without the 500 hours on type too)?

Hours

Tinker,

So what you are saying is to better wait for the 500 hours even though for FO is not a requirement under the minimums or I won't have any problems if I turn in the application with only 30 hours or so short, which I'll be completing the 500 hours in 2 weeks or so.

Hi,

Yes requirements change a lot. QR usually recommends you to have a regular look on their page.

Lately, they are mainly interested by type rated pilots (meaning with 500h on type). Mainly means that you you donīt have a good contact in the company, it certainly applies to you. In the past they accepted non-type rated but that is not the case now, except for 777/787 (I think they require a Boeing type rating, but check the webpage).

Transfer from Qatari to any other ICAO license will depend on the country of your other license. Even for european licenses, the processes are not the same on every country.

Regards

Norvak,

What do you mean when you say that I don't have a good contact in the company? I don't quite understand. From what I read recently on their requirements page for FO on A330/340 is 1000 hours minimum on multijet etc but it doesn't say anything about minimum 500 hours on A330 except in the application where it asks you if you have them, unless you are applying for a A330/340 captain position where it's in the minimum requirements. Now please don't get me wrong, I'm not here to contradict know one I just want to make sure I do things right and get the right advice.

Hello, i guess u dont quite get what norvak is trying to tell you.. THE OFFICIAL requirements are one thing, they apply for everyone and u can see them on their webpage.. on the other hand, they prefer now to bring type rated guys and guys with more experience or maybe guys with good contacts... it is something u cannot know.
