SO's

If they want to employ only their national SO's, they are in their right.
But they should employ all the ones swimming to clean up the pool and, from that momment on, call only the Qatari's.

@Jeanpaul.

Could you confirm that what QA recruitment told you was only for NTSO??
I Mean...did they tell you literally "this only apply for NTSO , not for FTSO???

In any way, next year I think almost everybody will be needed with the opening of the NDIA.

Thanks a lot.

Its considered to be common if the pool - as you said - is being updated and the pilots kept motivated.

Well... Considering the 20000 different answers one gets when asking someone at HR, the feedback some of us got and information that reaches us, none of the above mentioned is achieved.

If there were clear goals stated as how many pilots QR needs of each category for 2013, the intentions with the pool and official statements that are not ambigous, then we'd come closer to that. Shouldnt the HR provide as precise information that it leaves no room for interpretation? For the benefit of everyone - the HR because they dont get written to and called every other day and the pilots that know what they are at.

To be honest - I dont know where Im at with QR. I wish I knew, so I could join soon. But that is wishful thinking according to the information at hand.

Any Pool F/O's out there?

I can understand why the vast majority of posts are from S/O's as they probably have the most riding on their Qatar application. And I DO NOT agree with the way you are being treated.
My Question is for any F/O's in the pool. 777 F/O's to be precise. Many of you are A320 F/O's but have any of you who are in the pool for longhaul F/O's been given contracts/DOJ or any 'November' update yet?
I was interviewed May 12
Good news about Aug 12
Nothing since

lecm - ive heard about the same last november already... so of course im a bit angry with the way they treat us. and yes - they said on multiple occasions that i will have my doj latest on march.

thats why i dont trust any mail they just send us - ive lived there... many decisions change the system over night. i believe that i am working with qr only when i am checked out as a fo.

and you have to admit that all the emails being sent to us are very ambiguous.
how come i have to rely on newspapers to tell me that qr has ordered another few 787 or 330f?
the recruitment department should clarify it with precise numbers. of course without the fluctuation of people that might go or jumpship.

or can you tell me the exact figure of how many people are in the pool?

dedicated thread

Hi

Suggest one of the swimmers start a dedicated thread about updtes etc

a la "ek hold pool"

That would allow wannabee swimmers like myself to be able to get more infos about the interview and other related issues on this thread.

and please some recent interview feedback would be much appreciated

cheers

about all the different replies people got whet they could reach qr
it reminds me of a game where one person whispers a message to someone and he whispers it to the next and so on and what the last person heard was always completely different from what the first one told.

i think there are only a few people in doha who exactly know what they are going to do with us and unfortunately they aren't the ones communicating with us

@JeanPaul and Tritzo

I think you are still in the run to be hire but still risky to wait. There are probably people in the HR for whom foreign NTSO are not so welcome. The information I received and the one you received, are partially true. Why? Because I’m not 100% sure that all NTSO hired so fast in 2011 and 2012 had family connection and I’m not sure that when the NDIA will open they will supply NTSO only with Qatari’s college graduates. Too many aircrafts ordered. But in the mean time, it is sure that Qatari’s and those with familiy connections will be put automatically ahead of you.

Here is how I see their recruitement scheme:

First step=> There are people in charge to call applicants for the interview. You’ve been called.

Second step=> You passed or you failed your interview. If you failed, things go fast for you as you received the bad new e-mail.

Third Step=> All applicants who passed are sent to a kind of validation desk. Then from here, there are two categories after the screening.

Category 1: Those declared suitable = Good news e-mail+ Pool mail+Updates e-mails and will be sent to the next validation desk for employability screening when it is require by the demand.

Category 2: Those declared not suitable(for political reason probably)= No news and blackout.Your file will be lost until you disappear by your own or they found a good reason to not hire you or there is the miracle of a so high demand that they have to put you in Category 1.

Fourth Step=>The employability desk require new files so yours is sent. Then from here two categories after the screening.

Category 1: Those declared suitable= Green light for you, you’ll have the next training slot available.

Category 2:Those declared not suitable = Red light for you, they find something wrong on you (Security check, falsification or something) Then you receive an e-mail stating they can’t proceed further with your application.

Am I far from the reality?

That sums it up quite well... I know from first hand that my application is allright but also there have been NTSO pulled infront of me, that had more hours (though the same category) or as you mentioned just being local.

Of course I still hope things are moving for us, but the best would be a webpage, where you can see a number+name on a list of the specific category (NTSO, FTSO, FO, DEC) and a general timetable with the typerating/standardization courses planned for each category. So whenever a batch finishes, your number moves up and soforth.

Any nationals will always be listed on top of that of course but to have a general overview of your situation I think this came in handy.

Wow, you haven't even joined QR and you're already debating/deciding what is going on behind the scenes and how they could improve things. They should hire you based on these characteristics alone, you would be a perfect fit.

i dont wanna change/improve anything. i just wanna know whats happening as there are still important decisions that have to be made upon their notice/trust whatever.

that those decisions dont correlate with aviation anymore, i have learned so far. but concerning yet another move to the middle east is something that i cannot overlook.

All been said before.

Lol, wow, not much changed here. Due to messages i got here is your info.
You were all told about this so you all have no reason to moan.

NTSO will basically not be hired. You are generally not needed. They have a school and now a ctc thing to trickle in NTSOs. Why you are all Banking on this is beyond logic. Maybe ifyou just continue with ur career and if u get a call then all good and well, but i would not hold your breath and "hope/swim" for qr

FTSOs will basically stop for the near year. It's a failed prospect in their eyes. But whats new, qR dont put huge amounts of thought into many things so they assumed that the training would be quick but since its not then they view extra sectors as a liability. If ur inhold pool, you will prob get a start but not until closer to mid year, if at all? Have a plan B and act on it.

For those FTSOs already here, i think that ur training "may" pick up in feb 2013 inshallah! They still have untrained FTSOs from mar/apr2012!

DECs and FOS are the priority, and ive mentioned that ad naseum!!! You may still have to wait a little while they try to figure out how to clear the backlog of guys already here. In sayingthat they are overstepping alltypes of SOs here generally.

Start dates are still being handed out. But as said previously, its trickle hiring at the moment.

Because they have interviewed u does not mean your automatically in! Especially if your an NTSO!
If you get asked for reinterview then thats the way it is. And it seems to be a good chance of that happening for some. Also it will be a different hiring process so no walk in the park if it happens. And based on the previous hiring/fail rates it may be needed??

Could, should, would...... They should do alot of things, but they cannot even add fleet type and date of join to the seniority list! Why, because they do not want you to know! Why? Because it keeps you guessing and it hides alotof stupidity such as favoritism for fleet changes to those who dont deserve it ,incompetence,, sackings and resignation rates. So as someone said eairlier, put a list of those waiting in the hold! LOL they struggle to organise training let alone look afterthose not in company yet!!!

Get used to it, this is the level of respect you get, sadly. If you cant handle it now, youwill lose it when you get here!

In saying that Its ok here half the time and frustrating as hell the other half! My advice is to come here and stay for a month if you can and see if it is really worth it.

NTSO

I can confirm first hand.

'We are not able to offer employment to Second officers other than sponsored graduates of the Qatar aeronautical college.

A small amount of Fast Track second officers MAY be needed in the second half of 2013..

Kinda strange though ntso's have a huge bond for 5 years. Quite a good deal for QR you would think since they cant leave. i hear a lot of diff things but this came from a manager in recruitment.

Things change a lot over there so my hope hasnt faded. I know of a guy on the forum: ITO. Did his assesment jan 2012. Passed the age limit (30) file got closed (NTSO) the guy probably did everything he could to turn the tide. The result: he was put back on track and received the offer of
Employment a little while ago.

Dont lose hope..

@jean Paul

Is strange because the news that i have also for recruitment is that everybody will receive its DOJ.
In other hand, i have a friend that works in the national qatari school and he has told me that there isn't enough sponsoriced students in order to feed QR.

I cant also understand what is the problem with the FTSO. they only have to do a few sectors more than a FO.

I think we have to be positives, indeed.

Hello guys,

Just like somebody said on another thread...

I know it's a "rumour" network, but you better keep in mind the first word, which is "Professional"! So unless you wish to understand it as being a good source of " professionally tailored rumours" in here, this should imply getting the information right before you start panicking with everybody around you!

disagreeable,

I'm not quiet sure where did you get your information from, but one thing I'm sure of is that it's all not so accurate! Especially what you said about NTSO,s!

Everybody with an offer letter will definitely get his DOJ. Everybody who has been put in the talent pool will receive an offer letter according to priority and operational requirements. FULL STOP! Confirmed by various sources inside QR.

Relax guys.. Your turn is coming up...just hang on!

Good luck everybody

supersonic75,

Got that from people in the HR/Recruitment. I'm already working here at QR and I have talked to them in person about a week ago.
Apologies for not being able to give names though.

Joining B777 fleet query.

Hi! Heard from a former colleague that when he joined QR, he completed his B777 training with BA at LHR up to LST. Then a trainer from QR came to do another 9 Sim' sessions with them. Is this just for the licensing for the Qatar aviation authorities?

Cheers in advance.
