The likelihood of failing a security check is between slim and none. I am holding my Police Clearance Certificate in my hand, and have passed similar checks at other airlines without any issues for the obvious reasons.

Any other thoughts or ideas are most welcomed.

Shaggy, could you possibly enlighten us a bit about your background, where you're from, your experience etc. (Completely up to you). Because there are known cases of external factors not directly related to the candidates position with QR that have meant that QR could not hire the candidate.

Like I said, I leave it to you what you want to reveal.

The other way around...

Hi all,

I got exactly the opposite while waiting for my "pass" letter in may. I received a mail saying I was unsuccessful this time and blabla, wrote back straight away and got a call the next morning from the recruitment team telling me it was a mistake and that the email was not for me. Another guy in my group had the same experience. I suggest that your write them an email asking for explanation and to confirm this email was for you.
Stay positive, I'm sure you'll find some sort of solution.

SHAGGY330

@Shaggy330,

It is my opinion that you should email AND call QR to confirm that the email is meant for you, especially if it's not a personalized email to you. I have also received an email that was intended for another pilot so an email sent to the wrong person isn't anything new.

You have nothing to lose my emailing AND calling QR HR.

Good luck!

Cheers!

I'll give it them a call since it certainly has the making of a mistake.

It starts to get really complicated now with all these wrong emails. I hope my 'pass' email was not meant for someone else .

Don't worry mate, the pass email normally starts with this:

Dear (your name),
We refer to your application...

Well, mine was like that and even my friends who also got their pass mail, had the same. So, as long as your name is mentioned, there will be little room for mistake unless there is another applicant having the exact same name

Yes, according to rumours, Qatar Airways wants to first take over/employ/kick people out of the pool(see shaggy330 - although I dont know whether he ever was "in the pool") before they hire non type rated direct entries. Makes at least sense to take that 500 people that are assessed, interviewed and security checked before inviting new ones.

My guess, if the pool is empty (if it ever will) they are going to open the fleet restriction upon application again.

The website says they are looking for current 777 captains who would be able to join by April 2013.

Wrong, They will not move from the 777 if they come direct...
They will make up for the people leaving on the 777..... as well as to keep the "senior" guys happy who were offered the 787 and now cant have it due to a shortage of 777 guys at the moment....... even though lots of guys are sitting on the ground twiddling their thumbs waiting to be trainined! ...Yawn. so predictable

disagreeable,

Thank you for all of your detailed posts. Very informative. Are the 777 slots open because of pilot departures or just fleet growth? Also, I thought that 787 slots were primarily going to be filled by A320 pilots - still true? Or will 787 slots be filled by pilots from all fleets who have the seniority to bid it (including those from the 777)?

Cheers

Pool

Hi guys,

This is my first post here. Hope i can give some good infos. I've heard that the order to get a contract/DOJ is.... people with job offer unemployed (2 months), with job offer employed(2-4 months), no job offer unemployed (4-6 months), no job offer employed (6-8 months). So don't plan much about when you got your assessment it doesn't really count.

Happy landings!

Thanks Iver, nice to hear that somepeople actually take note of reality!
to answer your Q's:
Thank you for all of your detailed posts. Very informative. Are the 777 slots open because of pilot departures or just fleet growth?
Primarily open for both but pilot departures are the main cause. (40 T7 F/O's and some cpts possibly) vacated across the water to the unmentionable T.had

But what the original deal was that the first handful of 787 huys were to come from the T7 (~20) then the rest from the 320 mostly (with smatterings from 330 etc). depending on delivery rate of the 787, it was originally going to be about 7 F/O's and maybe a captain here and there going to the 787 per month.

Now that the mass exodus of the T7 guys happened, I am not sure that the guys from the T7 have moved over, maybe just a small number untill T7 fleet is stabilised again......... BUT the direct entry guys on that should expect to stay on that I reckon! not a bad bird to be stuck on

Or will 787 slots be filled by pilots from all fleets who have the seniority to bid it (including those from the 777)?
In terms of mentioning "seniority number" and the bidding for stuff process in QR.

You get two numbers: A Joining Date number (staff number) and a FLC (final Line Check) number.

Now, as I mentioned that people are being steped over at a rapid rate in the training here so those poor bastards are watching guys join WAY after them and getting trained first, which gives them a FLC number before guys who joined months and months before them, which means that bidding for cmd and fleet transfers is being pushed way back for some (FTSO's and SO's mostly)!

Also, as a caveat to that, it states that "performace" is also considered when bidding... so if a CS didnt like you, or you mentioned to a captain about his delberate mishandling of the a/c and he has higher up contacts, expect that your "performance" wont place you in good steed for the cmd or the transfer...... very political and backstabbing..... sadly....

The only light at the end of the tunnel is that they are going to have to concede somewhere soon, when they get planes delivered that sit on the ground and people still leave in droves, they may actually start to work things out...... NOT (insert satirical diabolical laughter)

Hope this helps!
QR is ok, but it is certainly not the golden goose like many make it out to be.
