MCC is a must for QR unless you hold a full ATPL. i have friends who passed the interview but couldn't join until they pass the MCC. Even if it is not required in your own country.

Question Qatar Airways info about commuting etc???

I am up for an interview at Qatar this month and was wondering if commuting to and from Europe is possible each month?? If so, what is the process as I hear you need an exit visa each time??
Also, I see that several have had interviews, but to hear something takes a while, what time frame is realistic to wait to hear an answer yes or no??
I also understand that the B777 is really the only aircraft to be on at Qatar as better days off, is this true??
What is the medical process like?? Is it based on the UK standards??

Any and all info on these questions and subjects would be very much appreciated!

After the introductions, they requested the following…
· Original Flying Licenses - Valid
· Original Medical Certificate - Valid
· All Original Logbook(s) – Please add up the hours (both PIC and SIC)
· Copy of last Simulator Check
· Valid original passport.
· Letters of Reference/Recommendation
· Human performance and limitation certificate (if available)
· English Proficiency Certificate (if applicable)
· Flight Crew Recruitment Checklist
What is a the human performance and limitation certificate?

The human performance and limitation certificate only applies to some countries. The UK doesn't have one so when I applied I put N/A in there.

Basically, they are referring to the ATPL subject "Human Performance & Limitation". They want a proof that you have successfully passed this subject either during your ATPL training or separately afterwards.

Are you sure of that ?

What about the certificate HPL (040), of course UK has one but you are not concern because you have a frozen or full ATPL, we are talking about JAA licence here, for the non JAA there will have to undergo a 5 days course except if they can provide a certificate.

So to make it simple if you hold a JAA frozen or full ATPL you are not concerned because it's certificate you get during your ATPL exams, for other people holding a CAR/FAA/etc.... you have to furnish a certificate or you will have to undergo the 5 days course during your ground training, simple as that.

Pretty much what Sephore said.
Its nothing you need to get before coming to the airline.
If you have a JAR Frozen ATPL/ full ATPL, you're not required to do the course once you arrive. Otherwise a 5 day boring course..

Its been 4 weeks since I return my contract and I have yet to receive a joining date. Is this an anomaly or are there others waiting for a joining date?

You have 5% chances I would say, and 30% after 3 years in QR.

I think it s not good to tell them you want the T7, with the hours you have on the bus why should they spend money to train you on boeing when they have a lack of bus drivers? More likely you can say you would like the long haul to increase your experience and perhaps you will get the 330.

Thanks for going into a bit more detail on that Sephore... on applying I was told that as we don't get "certificates" as such, just 2 pieces of paper with our results, to put N/A.

Fleet

look all119. Unless there are Fleet Managers on here answering questions no one knows for sure where you will go. It is highly likely you would go to the Airbus fleet as you have Airbus time but I don't know. They will put you where you are needed..period. I was asked where I would like to go. I told them. Made no difference. I have extensive international experience in the DC10 and MD11 I got placed in the A330. Quite frankly I am thrilled to be employed by Qatar.

Have a lot of you seen what is going on recently in the industry. AA chapter 11 with more furloughs. World 150+ pilots being furloughed all with extensive MD11 or 744 time. Omni parking a/c and laying off. Malev and Spanair gone. If you have interviewed and not heard anything in the past 4 weeks there is a very good chance you passed the first gate. Sit tight and be patient.

Just because you have a little bit of jet or turboprop time and a 1000 to 2000 hours doesnt make anyone "Gods gift". Yes its frustrating to wait we have all had to.

What was intimated to me and others who have interviewed, you are joining Qatar Airways not a particular fleet. If someone doesnt like the Fleet they are offered its simple. Decline the invitation and move on.

...well don't tell them that....I've seen buddies kicked out of the door for much less...apart from your "condom plane" experience (no sensitivity at all) you have great chance to be assigned to Aibuses..might me the 330.
Fleet assignment is..."where do we need now?"....of course experience is considered..I have 4600 total of wich 1000+ on widebodies multiengine..and got the 320...so this is how it goes...wanna a job?..in the best airliner of the world?..you'll probably get one but there is a but..and if you are ready to accept it...cool..if you have this douts...don't loose your time...

ziubelu

wanna a job?..in the best airliner of the world?
you mean a job on a B777 ??… let me ask you this if you are saying its the best airliner in the world.. then were can a experienced type rated B777 find a job?? then ask yourself.. where can a experienced A320 / A330 pilot find a job ? answer.. there are thousands of Airbus jobs world wide but very few B777 jobs to be found… No Dorothy, Bigger is not always better.

if your saying.. Qatar Airways is the best airline in the world…. hhmm, all i can say is, its not all bad but, you obviously dont work here.

and if your not talking about any of the above.. then never mind me.

Except for CCQ to A320 currently there are a lot more B777 jobs on offer than A330.
