For the guys that are waiting and have been waiting a while, don't worry, they haven't forgotten about you, and it is probably 99% good news if you've waited that long.
It's just a waiting game, and some get luckier than others in that they get hired quicker.

For the guys waiting for interviews, QR are literally conducting interviews on a weekly basis and they have lots of people short listed already from the past, your turn will come.
I know guys that have had to wait for 10 months, though it won't be the case with you guys as things are moving faster now.

For the guys that have already interviewed, just stay patient and they will get back to you guys. Try calling HR every other week and see what is going on .
The next email will tell you that you are successful and will get your fleet allocation and an official offer of employment in a maximum of 4 weeks.
It takes some guys 1 week, some guys even more than 4 weeks to get the news after that.

Once that is done, you will start VERY soon after.

Is it true, at the time of joining, first I have to resign from my present company, than I could be failed on medical exam of QA? If I pass the medical they may change my fleet. Anybody sucked this?

This is an assesment for a high profile airline not some fly-by-night charter outfit, formal suite and tie is standard and expected, anything less would not be a good idea.

a good example: its a company requirement that all airline staff entering the company property for any reason MUST follow a strictly adheard to dress code. so, having said that and given that the airline has a strict policy on how we should behave and look. It would be a wise idea to make a first impression that reflects the airlines policies.
it's also company policy for all pilots to attend simulator training in full uniform, but NOT during your interview please.. although it is good for a laugh

It depends on why you were rejected. I'm assuming the sim assessment did you in as they would not have let you get that far if everything else wasn't in order.

I would try again, if you are still interested.

I would rather be over dressed than under dressed...

everyone in my group wore the suit.

I guess it is what image you want to project.

Is there a kiwi or Australian working for QR that I can ring on the phone to have a chat with. Things at Air NZ are not moving and conditions getting worse.

I'm very interested in QR but have a wife and 3 kids 4, 7 and 11 years old.

Well maybe if they scrapped the half pay and sharing accommodation for Fast track Second Officers whilst they are training and treated them like professionals, then they would get more applications and people accepting the offer

Someone sat in the right hand seat is still sat in the right hand seat and should be treated equal from day one, not from when they are line checked

Half pay and shared accomodation for fast tracks until line checked should be scrapped and whoever thought that one up needs firing. And you mention high profile airline. Some of these fast tracks have wives or husbands you know ?

I didn't wear a suite for the assessment. Shirt and Tie without the Jacket, however I bought new clothes the day before, and not cheap either. I made sure everything matched as well. Also went to the barbar and made sure I was extremely well groomed for the day. I saw them give me maximum marks for appearance. And BTW, you'll be marked on appearance more than once.

Having said that I was only applying for Normal SO and everyone else around me wore jackets.

Unfortunately fleet allocation based on relevant experience comes secondary, as operational commercial needs come first. lately we have seen a clear allocation based on pervious experience. Airbus to Airbus and Boeing to Boeing, or, widebody to widebody and so on. Keep in mind however, as things change so do the allocations. in the end its all a matter of timing based on the airlines needs. I would not be far off by saying that the airlines needs can change on a daily basis.

Don't shoot the messenger mate, it has nothing to do with me. If your not happy with they way they do things here simply don't sign on the dotted line. I did say it was a 'high profile airline', and that they are. However, I did not say they treat everyone fair with loving compassion, and working here is all flowers and candy.. now did i ?

I am very happy thank you. I was not a fast track second officer. What I was trying to say is that if they treated everyone equal from day one, many more would apply and accept the job offer. I don't see what they are achieving by putting them on half salary and sharing accommodation until they are line checked apart from the fact they are putting many off from applying or accepting the job once offered. What is the company saving by doing this, nothing. If you had a wife and the contract you get sent said sharing accommodation, what would you do if you already had a flying job, I guess you would stay put.


By the way, Capt Krunch is correct. What you get offered as in fleet and what you get when you start training could be totally different. My fleet change was a blessing in disguise, but it all depends on what you want in life.
