hello!
I am going to the assessment in London next month.
A few questions regarding the assessment"
1- Is it gonna be all done in the same day? Tests, sim, interview...
2- What about the Logbook? I have the Standard Electronic EASA logbook printed and signed by me. Is that enough for them?
3- Any other database for studying beside LPJ?

Cheers

I may be wrong, but I think a log book signed by yourself is worth about 2 parts of Fxxk All

LPJ seems to be the best preparation web, I talked with a very intelligent guy TRE and LTC capt and he just passed the assessment and told me to prepare with LPJ prep.....
If I were you, I would also print your duty plan in your previous/current company and take it as back up of your logbook

Bringing your spouse to Doha is great idea and encouraged actually and welcome to stay in provided hotel.
most countries are eligible for visa on arrival, so really you need to worry about the ticket.
the logbook? Even flight crew working here have had to start new logbooks, currently only EASA FCL050 or whatever latest is allowed or log pro 10?

At the interview must have all logbooks....if unable for whatever reason the last logbook stamped on last 3 pages by employer. They are aware the stamp at the interview stage is difficult to ask or receive so give some leeway.
But don’t show up saying I have 10000 hours and only have last logbook with less 1000 in it. If you have lost or unable to bring all required logbooks then the stamps by current airline are crucial
Latestpilotjobs is good starting point, but process is being changed at current moment so may not be completely up to date..

I think officially after 1 year you are to be washed out.......However you are right they had some people in pool for extended periods, and Qatar seemed to feel bad for change in requirements- and tried to honor their initial offer and has extended it for some -I really don’t know going forward what policy is or will be.

hi Casablanca,
I have been in pool since Sept 18' as DEC 320. It would be great if you could share any update on joining and the probable fleet.
Thanks
Sandy

Apparently we need around 500 pilots this year, however most recruitment is still on Boeing side of things. B787-9 start arriving in September, and we have 30 on order. Plus the outstanding 777 orders and a quite a few more A350s to go. Then the 777x starts in 2020, interesting times ahead.

Btw Some new guys are getting put up in the Pearl again. And people are being let out of company accommodation howver the queue is very long so expect quite some time waiting.

Best of luck and welcome aboard!

Thanks for the insights,

Any information if the 787-9 will have crew rests and make ULR flights?

How do 777 and 787 rosters compare? Still not sure if I should apply with just 1000+ hrs or should wait till I have more to have better chances for the big Boeing where I could fly long range.

Apparently the Skype/Phone interview is being replaced by the online video interviewing service called Sonru.
They ask you you a question (shown on the screen) and you have a min or so to prepare an answer, timer starts running and you can record your answer.

Has someone done this one recently?
What questions can we expect?

My deadline for Sonru is in 36 hours, so if someone can give me some hints, I would highly appreciate it!

Kind regards!

Nothing decided and communicated yet. Only loose rumours floating around.

Goes in cycles, right now for the 787 FOs the rosters are great.
For the 777 FOs it is very hard work at the moment if you have the IRP and Cargo training done, they're working on it but it's taking time. Good money though if you don't do much deadheading on paxflights.
It was the other way around not long ago so it's hard to tell what to expect however it's still a good gig for many.

There are no typical rosters, the flying is mixed and you can shape the rosters somewhat depending on how you bid. Life is pretty good on the 787 at the moment for both FO/CPT. Enjoy!

Thanks APU_inop, much appreciated. Without trying to sound too stupid, when you say shape the roster, could you elaborate? I understand preferential bidding etc, having used it in a previous airline, but it was heavily manipulated.
